HUMANS could evolve into two sub-species within 100,000 years as social divisions produce a genetic underclass.
The mating preferences of the rich, highly educated and well-nourished could ultimately drive their separation into a genetically distinct group that no longer interbreeds with less fortunate human beings, according to British scientist Oliver Curry.
Dr Curry, a research associate in the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science of the London School of Economics, speculated that privileged humans might over tens of thousands of years evolve into a "gracile" subspecies, tall, thin, symmetrical, intelligent and creative.
The rest would be shorter and stockier, with asymmetric features and lower intelligence, he said.
Dr Curry's vision echoes that of H.G. Wells in The Time Machine. He envisaged a race of frail, privileged beings, the Eloi, living in a ruined city and co-existing uneasily with ape-like Morlocks who toil underground and are descended from the downtrodden workers of today.
Dr Curry also said that the current concept of race would be gone by the year 3000, as relationships between people with different skin colours produce a "coffee-colour" across all populations.
With improvements in nutrition and medicine, people would routinely grow to 6ft 6in and live to the age of 120, he said. Genetic modification, cosmetic surgery and sexual selection - whereby mate preferences drive evolution - meant that people would tend to be better-looking than today.
Otherwise, humans will look much as they do now, with one exception: Dr Curry also suggested that increased reliance on processed food would make chewing less important, possibly resulting in less developed jaws and shorter chins.

Just don't let Michael Moore-on mate with Rosie O'Donnell or else that could foretell the end of the human species..... OK, since Rosie is "not into men" I guess it might have to be via artificial insemination...... still, that would be the most dangerous genetic step in human history.

I believe our generation (I am 36) will live to 120 years. When we broke and mapped the human genetic code we unlocked every reason why people grow old and die. Anti-aging pills have been tested in lab animals which doubles the effective life span. These drugs will be available in the next twenty years. Add to that we can code cells to grow into almost whatever we want, including organs. Again, less then 20 years away. Most people die from heart failure or organ failure from diseases such as cancer. Lastly, nano-technology will produce drugs that will target diseases, repair damaged cells etc.
People 3,000 years from now will not die accept by accident or war. Growing old and dying will be a thing of the past. We probably won't be focused on genetic classes or prime/sub cultures, so this article is somewhat foolish. We will have colonized 100 planets by then and each planet will produce genetic changes based on environment.
Let's hope it gets up to 130, and we can spend most of our lives as senior citizens. Think of the the damage all of the discounts will do to our economy...

If people in Adams(pbuh) time were 60+ ft tall, how come we never find any remains close to that tall."
I don't know what Christian organizations claim that people in Adams time (actually more like Noah's time) were 60 ft. tall. I believe it is 8 feet tall. If the bible is accurate then it means a species of beings (also called fallen angels)mated with women and the result was a genetically different human species which died off during the great flood. A medical condition also exists which is gargantuism where people grow to massive proportions. I don't take the bible or the koran literally. To me it's impossible for Moses to have known some things without God's passing this knowledge. How he interpreted it or wrote it down is an entirely different matter.

Who is 100% right, Muslims or Christians? If you really think about neither are 100% right. I think if we all had a close personal relationship with God with a genuine heart we as mankind do the right thing. Those that promote or use religion as an excuse for murder is a plague on civilization.

I don't think it would take thousands of years with genetic engineering. We already have babies with 2 biological mothers, since a form of cloning has been used to treat mitochondrial defects, and little boys who were created by artificial in vitro fertilization who have the same genetic defect that their daddies had, so their kids will have to be started in a petri dish.

"Nature" is really the Creator. And He most definitely will have something to say about it. My answer is that all our children are "human," since we can't divide the image of God. But we can cause pain and suffering.

Give me a break.. they are plenty of smart middle class people. People that will never be rich.. only because they don't put riches at the top of their list. They don't care to open up their own business and time with their family is far more imporant than ambition. Those type of people are smarter than most.
It'll go a lot faster than that and there will be more than 2 species.
Every new environment we move into for the 500 years will require that we re-engineer ourselves.
There could be dozens of human species by then.
