Its time to vote straigh Democratic ticket [Zot!]

Posted on 10/20/2006 3:44:01 AM PDT by Polliwag

I can say without an iota of hesitation or regret that I will cast a ballot for a Democrat for only the third time in my 26 years of voting. The only Democrats I ever voted for were Ann Richards for governor on TX against that quack Clayton Williams and for Lloyd Bentsen for Senator from TX.

Due to my total disgust with the way the Federal and the state governments have conducted themselves and how they have failed to act in the interest of this country, I will proudly vote a straight Democrat ticket this year and as a vow to myself, for the next 20 years.

The only exception to this is that I will vote for Kinky for governor because he is the only one I don't view with contempt over their past actions.

Now if only 30,000,000 others out there who are fed up with the corruption, the inaction on border security, the mess in Iraq, the immigration issue, the ever worsening health care fiasco in this country, the incredible spending binge undertaken by Bush and Congress, the Internet gambling ban and the contemptible and disrespectful way in which the GOP views the American public (except for those writing them big checks and paying for all their luxurious lifestyles) will do the same thing, we can start the revolution that will begin to turn this sinking ship around.

There were only three Democrat politicians worth voting for - Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk and Grover Cleveland. All the rest had superior equivalents in other parties.

By today's standards, they would be considered more tough on defence and conservative in tax policy than many "conservatives".

A party so classically wrong about so many issues should not be given power.

Regards, Ivan

I will never, ever, ever, ever vote for a 'Rat.

If you weren't banned, maybe you could provide good examples of how the Democrats act for the betterment of this nation.

First, they don't have to do anything to increase taxes. All they've gotta do is let the Bush tax cuts expire in 08, as they're scheduled to do.

Second, I predict that the Dems will spend the next several years paying Big Labor off for their support. By the time they're done, the US economy will be a Mexican or EU style disaster. They are already trying to help Big Labor unionize Wal-Mart.

Big Labor destroys every industry it touches. Look at the railroads, the steel industry, Big 3 autos, textiles, furniture, and manufacturing in general. Even the education system.

Proof that there are lots of non-conservative plants on the forum. Sign up dates are meaningless in that regard.

It's not a matter of "touching" bozo.

I can't tell. Sounds like you're defending a troll which was in fact banned by the Admin Moderator.

Gridlock - thx for your reasoned response. Shame that mkjessup continues to make an ass of himself on the forum.

Ahhh, hit a raw nerve I see, triggering the adhominem response.

Try the decaf Sparky.

I agree that what you are saying is what they WANT to do, but wanting to do something and actually doing it in Washington are two very different things.

Remember the Contract with America and 1994? The Pubbies came in fired up and with a mandate only to be quashed by the veto pen and countless obstructionary and stalling tactics.

Do you expect even a minority GOP to just roll over and play dead to the Donks?

At the end of the day the Rats will only be able to more effectively do nothing.

And, they will be able to investigate the adminstration.

In my opinion there are some things out there worthy of investigation - mostly regarding the allocation of resources and poor decision-making. Unfortuantely, my guess is they will focus on the moonbat conspiracies and Bush will employ all of the stalling tactics that Clinton perfected.

A RAT congress means gridlock and investigations. But it will also mean that the RATS will have to at least come up with some ideas and we all know that they have none.

If you really haven't seen the countless pictures of different US politicians with Chavez - even traveling there to buy gasoline at quantity discount for their dem constituents - and you really haven't read his endorsements of some US politicians, then I suggest that you read a bit more in depth, both here and in many other places.

The stories are everywhere, as is the proof of long standing unabashed support for these Socialist characters, from Kerry meeting with Noriaga to J Jackson hugging Castro and shouting: “¡Viva la revolución!

The media has a love affair with communist dictators

Images of Rather with Castro

You shouldn't go around pointing out the specks in other people's eyes w/o removing the beam from your own.

They DID! Or at the very least, made it possible for the several states to do so.
Unfortunately, the lowest common denominator has gotten a lot lower since then...

Please re-read my tongue-in-cheek post again. Yes, I really don't like to read what comes out of my TV every day (it just gets old), but my comment was 90% teasing.

I did not say you belong on DU, and by telling you to clean your computer after visiting DU; I thought it would indicate that I don't think that you hang out there... and cleaning your computer before coming back, was an obvious statement that you were wanted back here. I should have put a winky after the post.

I really do not know how to respond to the personal attacks you vented on me, but I hope you will now know that I was not calling you any name, and I chalk your remarks up to misguded anger.

That was a pretty weak response. The comment was about these guys supporting Democrats. Which I assume to mean politicians. Dan Rather, while perhaps a democrat (if not an outright communist), is not a politician. So the pictures are pointless at best or, if you want guilt by association, you clearly are not a Rumsfeld fan given his photos with Saddamm.

The charge about Kim and the Iranians appears to be just added for good measure then since you have not even bothered to tackle that subject.

On the other hand, the European leaders DO actively support democrats and even have said so in a not-too-subtle manner.
