The "bombshell" revelation from last April's National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), which was leaked to the New York Times in September, was that the war in Iraq had resulted in more terrorism, not less. As reported by United Press International's Claude Salhani, "Did we really need 16 intelligence agencies to tell us that? Ten minutes of watching the newscast of your choice, from Al-Jazeera to Fox News, would be enough to convince most observers." But the key question is why the war has provoked the global Jihad.

One answer has to be the influence in the Arab world of the America-
hating network Al-Jazeera. The AIM DVD on "Terror Television" shows film footage of captured terrorists saying they came to Iraq to kill Americans because of the words and images on Al-Jazeera.

Iran Turning Gaza Into Terror 'University,' Israeli Official Says

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Iran and Hizballah are working together with Hamas to transform the Gaza Strip into a "university" for studying terrorism, a senior Israeli defense official said.

The head of Israel's Shin Bet security services, Yuval Diskin, told Israeli lawmakers on Tuesday that Palestinians had smuggled 30 tons of military-grade explosives as well as large quantities of weapons, including anti-tank missiles, into Gaza since Israel withdrew its troops and evacuated settlements there last summer.

The smuggling posed a "real challenge" because the weapons could be used against Israel and to destabilize the regime of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said Maj. Gen. Amos Gilad, director of the military/political and policy bureau at the Defense Ministry.

What was even more serious, however, was the transfer of terror know-how, Gilad told a meeting of diplomats at the Institute for Contemporary Affairs in Jerusalem.

He said the Iranians and Hizballah were collaborating with Hamas to transfer expertise. This would enable terrorists to perpetrate worse attacks, causing more casualties.

Witness Is Silent in Terror Probe Ex-Professor Says Grand Jury Testimony Would Endanger Him (Sami al-Arian)

A potentially key witness has refused to testify in the long-running investigation into whether Islamic charities in Northern Virginia were financing terrorist organizations, according to recently unsealed court documents.

Former Florida professor Sami al-Arian declined to answer questions before a federal grand jury in Alexandria last month, according to documents unsealed in federal court in Tampa. Arian, who was acquitted in one of the nation's highest-profile terrorism cases but then pleaded guilty to a single charge, believes his life would be in danger if he testified, his attorneys told a judge.

Newly released evidence has revealed that the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) worked privately to pressure DePaul University to fire adjunct professor Thomas Klocek for telling Muslim activist students that their views on Middle-East issues were wrong. According to a letter to DePaul’s President from CAIR’s executive director M. Yaser Tabbara, “In light of …Mr. Klocek’s biased remarks, we are requesting that the University…reprimand Mr. Klocek for his conduct by permanently dismissing him from any teaching post at DePaul University.” (Exhibit # DPU 945).

Over the weekend, authorities arrested 39-year-old Chad Castagana on suspicion of sending threatening letters to media outlets and the homes of several public figures including "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann.

On Tuesday, Olbermann spoke to Radar Online senior writer John Cook who has been covering the story. Cook said Castagana appeared to be admirers of conservative pundits Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham.

"Ann Coulter and Malkin...sort of present a kind of rhetorical world view where they have their troops out there," Cook said, "and I think he thought of himself as one of their troops and wanted to live up to their standards."

Castagana has also been identified as a gushing online admirer of Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham. And the Web site RawStory reports that many bloggers believe he is also a contributor, under a different name, to the conservative Web site FreeRepublic. In fact, the name used is supposed to be Marc Costanzo.

COOK: Well, we should point out the evidence is not conclusive, but—it’s circumstantial, but it’s good evidence. It appears that Mr. Castagana was a poster to the FreeRepublic, which, as you know, is an online library of some of the most thoughtful right-wing thinkers out there. And his—the Marc Costanzo alias that he used, his profile said, “Ann Coulter is a goddess and I idolize Malkin and Ingraham.” And there are a lot of posts that suggest that he’s a big fan of Malkin and Coulter.

McDowell accuses Sinn Féin over Bellenaboy violence

The Minister for Justice has said Sinn Féin is playing a significant role in prompting trouble at the Shell gas terminal site in Co Mayo.

Speaking after this morning's violence at Bellanaboy, Michael McDowell said the gardaí there have his full backing.

He hit out at key figures in Sinn Féin saying: "I want to say to Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness and Caoimhin O’Caolain that this tactic of confronting the Gardaí and of breaking the law to achieve political notoriety won’t succeed.

"I love Britain not terror, says son of Abu Hamza"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "THE son of the jailed Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri declared yesterday that he was proud to be a British citizen.

Mohammad Mostafa Kamel, 25, who was jailed for terrorist offences in Yemen in 1999, said that it was wrong to associate him with his father’s views.

“Everybody has their own beliefs and it doesn’t mean that if my dad believes something that I believe the same,” he told the BBC World Service Outlook programme. “I don’t agree with everything my dad says.”

Mr Kamel, who was dismissed from a part-time maintenance job on the London Underground after his bosses realised that he had a conviction for terrorism, insisted that he was peaceful and tolerant. He said: “I’m proud to be British. I love my country.”

His father, the former imam of Finsbury Park mosque in North London, repeatedly described England as “a toilet” and told his followers that they had an obligation to wage holy war against non-Muslims.

Mr Kamel was born in London in October 1981 to Abu Hamza, who was working as a bouncer at a pornographic cinema club, and his first wife, Valerie Traverso."

"Online Recruiting, Inciting of Jihad in Britain: BBC Follows Jawa"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The BBC has a new 'investigative' report which concludes that Islamic extremists are using the internet to recruit, train, and incite jihad in the U.K.

Most of what they report is what we've been saying for, I dunno, years. And the specifics? Well, we've been reporting that Shiekh Omar Bakri Mohammed has been leading his followers in Britain from exile for months.

But we do have some news that the BBC still doesn't have or can't release due to British censorship laws. Scroll down for that.

That Bakri Mohammed intimated that it was okay to bomb airports.

That he and his followers praise the 7/7 bombers.

That Omar Bakri Mohammed continued to direct followers of his banned group via the internet from exile in Lebanon.

That a secret group called Vigil has been monitoring the followers of Omar Bakri Mohammed and pressuring the British government to act."

What he means by 'the covenant' is that British Muslims have a contract with the U.K. government. They promise to cease the jihad required by the Quran against the unbelievers in return for a British promise to allow them to proseletyze.

But I'm guessing that by this time, he suspected that he was being watched. What he didn't know, was that his voice would be recognized.

Why? Because in another conversation, recorded by Jenvey, Mizanur Rahman calls Osama bin Laden the emir of Muslims. That there is a war against Islam by Bush and Blair, and that there is a religious obligation by Muslims to support Osama bin Laden."

"UK faces 'wave' of terror plots"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Britain faces a "wave" of terrorist plots, prepared strategically and directed from abroad by al-Qaeda, Home Secretary John Reid has told the BBC.
He agreed with MI5 head Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller's assessment that there were 30 major plots, and said an attack in the UK was "highly likely".

New counter-terrorism laws are expected to be among a raft of Home Office Bills at the heart of the Queen's Speech.

Counter-terrorism officials have said Britain is al-Qaeda's top target.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Mr Reid said Dame Eliza had provided a "salutary warning".

'Great threat'

"It is a very great threat. It means that a terrorist attack in the United Kingdom is highly likely," he said.

The government had no information to suggest an imminent attack, he said, but were aware of 30 plots which were "ongoing" and had potential, he said.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Washington (CNSNews.com) - Western policymakers need to "undertake a systematic study" of Islamic theology and law before they can understand the goals and motives of terrorists who are working to subjugate or convert non-Muslim populations, a scholar on Islam told a gathering in Washington on Tuesday.

It would be a mistake to assume that Islam has been "hijacked," argued Robert Spencer, the author of a recent book on the prophet of Islam, Mohammed.

Terrorists and extremists targeting American interests today are making use of the actual text in the Koran and the teachings of their prophet, he said.

Spencer is the director of the Jihad Watch website and the author of six books, his most recent dealing with Mohammed.

"It is untrue that jihadists are a tiny minority of extremists," Spencer said in a lecture hosted by the Heritage Foundation.

"The texts of Islamic jurisprudence say it is incumbent upon the Islamic community to wage war against non-Muslims until they submit or convert. This concept is shared by all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence and is not rejected by anything considered orthodox."

At the conclusion of Spencer's presentation, police were called to the event after several individuals began to chant slogans, expressing their displeasure at the substance of Spencer's talk."

Iraqi Special Forces, Police Nab Cell Leaders, Members

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2006 – Iraqi special forces soldiers and police nabbed terror-cell leaders and members in raids in Baghdad over the last two days, U.S. officials reported. In addition, coalition forces killed 11 insurgents in Ramadi.
Coalition forces have killed 11 insurgents in three related incidents in Ramadi. In an incident today near Haswah, three insurgents were observed emplacing an improvised explosive device. They were engaged with small-arms fire and a main-tank-gun round. Two insurgents were killed.

In a raid yesterday in the same area, special Iraqi police forces with coalition advisors captured six insurgents believed to be responsible for car-bomb attacks against Iraqi civilians and security forces. The insurgents are also allegedly responsible for criminal activities including extortion, murder, kidnapping and car theft in the Haswah and Baghdad areas. The insurgents also help finance other insurgent cells.

Last night, coalition forces engaged a small number of insurgents emplacing an improvised explosive device. Two insurgents died in the engagement. The three remaining insurgents returned to the emplacement site, and coalition forces fired one main-tank-gun round, killing all three insurgents.

Following an IED attack on a coalition vehicle four hours later in the same vicinity, four insurgents were killed after they attempted to take mission-essential equipment from the vehicle. Two of the insurgents were killed by small-arms fire, and two were killed with one main-tank-gun round. This event occurred during curfew hours.

Nine additional suspects were detained by Iraqi forces during the raid, and several assault rifles were confiscated. Iraqi forces entered a mosque compound while conducting the operation but did not enter the mosque. Coalition forces did not enter the mosque compound or the mosque.

Elsewhere, U.S. Army soldiers detained three suspected terrorists in Baghdad’s Doura neighborhood around 5:45 a.m. yesterday. The soldiers, from 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, responded to a rocket attack and observed two suspects fleeing from the scene. The suspects attempted to evade the patrol, but were unsuccessful. The patrol secured the suspects for further questioning.

In a Nov. 12 raid in Arab A’ Jabur, special Iraqi security forces with coalition advisors captured four members of an insurgent cell believed to be responsible for murders, kidnappings and bomb attacks that have killed and injured Iraqi civilians and Iraqi police forces.

The insurgents were also allegedly responsible for taking over Iraqi civilian houses in the area to use for expanding their network, causing families to be displaced.

No Iraqi forces or civilians or coalition forces were killed during these incidents.
