Sen. John Kerry responded to criticism of his remarks suggesting U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart” by asserting that he would never attack American servicemen.
Perhaps Kerry has forgotten statements he made as a spokesperson for Vietnam Veterans Against the War more than three decades ago.
Kerry touched off a storm of protest when he told a college audience on Monday that "if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
He tried to deflect outraged calls for an apology to U.S. troops on Tuesday by maintaining that his comments were a "botched joke,” adding: "If anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops serving in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, they’re crazy.”
He said later: "And for them to suggest that somebody who served their country, as I did, and has a record like I have in the United States Congress of standing up and fighting for the troops would ever, ever insult the troops is an insult in and of itself.”
But in testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971, Kerry referred to soldiers in Vietnam who "told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war.”
Some have sought to defend Kerry by asserting that he was merely quoting reports from other soldiers, but it was Kerry himself who introduced those reports before the Committee.
And Kerry was not quoting other GIs when he testified: "We saw Vietnam ravaged equally by American bombs as well as by search and destroy missions, as well as by Vietcong terrorism, and yet we listened while this country tried to blame all of the havoc on the Vietcong . . .
"We learned the meaning of free fire zones, shooting anything that moves, and we watched while America placed a cheapness on the lives of Orientals.”
He also alleged that "the torture of prisoners” was "accepted policy by many units in South Vietnam.”
Kerry has a long history of these slanderous, traitorous comments and that's why his media allies are not going to get away with saying this was just misinterpreted.
Looks like Kerry and his Demonrats are vying to be placed in the terrorists museum to defeating the "Great Satan". This rhetoric and slander is just disgusting and appalling considering the threat we are facing.
That makes Kerry the coSenator of Massachusetts with the murderer Ted Kennedy, while Bush is POTUS.

The Vietnam War was always about stability in the Area.
When KERRY, KENNEDY, CLINTON, CRONKITE, RODHAM, FONDA, HAYDEN, JACKSON fooled us, (Through TV) into abandoning Vietnam behind to their fate at the hands of GOD-less Communists ..millions lost their lives in S.E. Asia.
In a recent 'Meet the Press' TV Interview longtime KERRY friend KENNEDY lyingly told America that only 100,000 S.E. Asians lost their lives after the Fall of Saigon ...as in it was no big deal..!! This as both are trying to do that same thing now to the people of the Middle East.

Kerry is no different re his hatred of a strong America and our warriors than 99.9% of the rats in congress. Every rat running for election should have to face a copy of this banner everytime they show their treasonous faces. Pelosi, Murtha, Clintoon, Boxer, Kennedy, Durbin, Levin, Rangle, Reid and other rats in congress hate our military and a strong America. Just look at their voting records the past two years as President Bush pointed out this week.

Absolutely, if Americans restore Congress to the Democarats next week, the first thing they'll do is to try to cut off funding for food & water supplies to our troops in Iraq. President Bush will be able to stop their efforts for awhile, but how long before they'd be able to stop all funding for the Executive Branch to keep those funds from being 'wasted' (as they see it) on support for our troops in Iraq & Afghanistan when those same monies could be funneled into their own estate plans!

You are exactly right about what the rats will do to our military if Pelosi is in charge.
I got an email from a conservative lawyer, and he sees a $**tstorm of court martial attempts and court martials of our warriors and their commanders from the rat JagOff lawyers in the Pentagon if the rats seize power. He said that will destroy all morale in the military if that happens.
