Burns refuses to concede, wants more ballots counted
Missoulian State Bureau ^ | November 08 2006 | CHARLES S. JOHNSON and JENNIFER McKEE,

Posted on 11/08/2006 3:01:35 PM PST by george76

Defeated U.S. Sen. Conrad Burns, R-Mont., refused to concede Wednesday saying there remain votes yet to be counted in his tight race against the declared winner, Democrat Jon Tester.

Burns, who has not commented to reporters on the race since the votes were counted Tuesday night, released a statement at 1:47 p.m.

“Jon Tester ran a good race and has the lead right now, but it is extremely close,” Burns said. “The state of Montana has a process in place, and it is our obligation to see it through. There are still votes out there that deserve to be counted.

“I believe we need to continue to let that process play itself out, and there is no need to rush to a conclusion when votes are this close.”

As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, the unofficial vote count showed Tester with a 2,847-vote lead, with all 867 precincts reporting. Here were the totals:

- Tester, 198,302 votes, for 49.1 percent.

- Burns, 195,455 votes for 48.4 percent.

- Stan Jones, Libertarian, 10,324 votes for 2.6 percent.

Only two kinds of ballots had yet to be counted Wednesday afternoon, said Bowen Greenwood, a spokesman for Secretary of State Brad Johnson.

People who went to the polls Tuesday, but forgot to bring some kind of identification, were able to cast provisional ballots.

Those ballots will only be counted if the voter returns today with proper identification by 5 p.m. Wednesday. Greenwood estimated that about 1,000 provisional ballots were cast Tuesday.

Also, the office will continue to count ballots coming in from Montanans serving in the military overseas for a few days after the election.

Greenwood said it was impossible to know how many of those may come in.

I saw Tester's lead shrink down to 1724 overnight, even after Yellowstone zero'd out because of voter machine problems.

" Makes you wonder if George Soros was donating to the campaigns of the local Libertarian candidates..."

Second, Soros hopes that JD Hayworth in Arizona and others give up before the early, military and provisional votes have been counted...

There seem to be many races we would have won, if the Libertarians had given us 30 percent of their votes.

It make sense that Soros would pay Libertarians to run against us.

Evil and clever.

I hope he hangs in there as well. Tester's an a-hole. I see he already celebrated, and Dingy Harry pleaded for Burns to drop out.

Call his office --- tell him we expect him to win and not to concede until every last ballot has been counted and recounted at least twice. :)

If the numbers were reversed, the Dems would waste no time in reminding everyone that this was a razor-thin margin, and did not represent a mandate.

I think that stands in this case.

BILLIONAIRES SECRETLY MET IN ASPEN TO DEFEAT BUSH

10/19/04 from The New Yorker Magazine

In the days following the Democratic Convention in Boston this past August, several billionaire Democratic activists secretly met at the famed Aspen Institute in Colorado...their clandestine meeting ... the New Yorker magazine reports in its most recent edition.

Details of the meeting remain sketchy... The Aspen meeting was supposed to have been a top secret within Democratic party circles.

When The New Yorker inquired about the meeting, an assistant to one of the attendees was surprised by the call.

"No one was supposed to know about this,” the aide told the magazine. "We don’t want people thinking it’s a cabal or some sort of Masonic plot!”

Apparently the leader of the secret cabal is billionaire Peter B. Lewis; the chairman of the Cleveland, Ohio-based insurance company, the Progressive Corporation.

Like another attendee, George Soros, the wealthy financier, Lewis has poured millions into Democratic 527 groups, including Americans Coming Together and Moveon.org.

Another billionaire who attended was John Sperling, founder of the online University of Phoenix.

Also present were Herb and Marion Sandler from California. The couple founded the Golden West Financial Corporation, a California Bank reportedly worth $17 billion.

Still, the wealthiest and most notable of those attending the meeting was George Soros, the 74-year-old Hungarian immigrant who desperately wants to defeat George Bush and has even compared him to the likes of Adolph Hitler.

Apparently, all was not roses at the billionaire confab, according to The New Yorker.

"The billionaires spent much of the time moaning the superior powers of the GOP,” the magazine said, and the group even needed some cheerleading from Harold Ickes, a former top aide to Bill Clinton who is involved in the 527 efforts.

The magazine said Soros had planned to keep a low profile in the closing months of the election, but suddenly changed course this summer when he decided to "jettison the strategy in favor of waging his own media-grabbing political campaign.”

Soros sees Bush as the face man for a secret cabal. "Bush was just chosen as a figurehead, an acceptable face for sinister group,” Soros told The New Yorker, adding, "Cheney is the Capo.”

Clearly Soros knows a thing or two about secret cabals and Capos.

The Dems with the help of the old media do this all the time against us

If the numbers were reversed, the Dems would waste no time in reminding everyone that this was a razor-thin margin, and did not represent a mandate.

Should read:

I will vote Libertarian for unelectable potheads until they get the message.

A few errors here IMO:
1. You are believing the media, who never seems to support a Republican.

That's why I said IF the article is correct - I have no independent way of knowing. But there is no evidence that the Missoulian would lie about something that can be easily verified, like this. If it weren't true, you'd think that the Burns camp would be screaming up and down instead of conceding.

2. ALL BALLOTS deserve to be counted. If you are an absentee voter due to your job, etc, how does it make you feel when "your ballots are not counted"??? Provisional ballots due to address changes, etc, also deserve to be counted.

3. Not counting the military ballots is a severe slap in the face of the men and women who are volunteers in the armed forces, and are placing themselves in harm's way so that YOU can vote, but then they are denied the counting of their votes? SHAME!!!

As far as I know, all ballots WILL be counted in Montana. The remaining outstanding ballots simply won't change the outcome in the Senate race. There likely aren't enough of them. They may or may not matter in other races on the ballots - but the votes should be counted, regardless. I never said that they shouldn't be. And any military votes that arrived before the deadline would have been counted with the other absentees.

Bump. The absentee vote is always ignored and rarely fully counted. Odd that this year so many states encouraged and broadened access to absentee (not just early) voting.

The Rats keep saying "go ahead and concede already". That would be a disservice to those who voted. The Left kept the Bush Administration from moving forward for MONTHS and that was critical time as the 9-11 attacks showed us.

Libertarians are spoiler candidates that elect Democrats.

The Dims have to deal with this, too.

Wonder how many of those Greens regret voting for Nader in 2000?

Montana's Libertarian candidate for Senate has turned blue from drinking a silver solution that he believed would protect him from disease.

Stan Jones,a 63-year-old business consultant and part-time college instructor, said he started taking colloidal silver in 1999 for fear that Y2K disruptions might lead to a shortage of antibiotics.

He made his own concoction by electrically charging a couple of silver wires in a glass of water.

His skin began turning blue-gray a year ago...

George Soros and the Libertarians

George Soros' ties to Libertarian "anti-war" groups like Lewrockwell.com are a concern for cause. Soros is merging the ideals of hardline Socialism and Libertarianism which is suppose to be the exact opposite of hardline Socialism into a Libertarian-Socialist.

It is through this merging Soros and his associates are enabled to infiltrate other political circles besides Democratic, Liberal and Leftist circles within America and elsewhere around the world. Soros' influence over at Lewrockwell.com with Soros' anti-War on Drug status is a major concern. Soros is tied to "alternative anti-drug" groups that are not honest on the affects on illegal drugs onto the American public. These drugs include mostly maijuana, but can include cocaine to what these "alternative" groups advocate. Soros' Open Society Institute funds these "alternative" groups and encourages for the "drug alternative" to the current anti-drug groups like DARE.

More evidence can be looked right here:

http://www.csdp.org/links.htm

This group that I displayed is linked to someone who works for Lewrockwell.com as a columnist. He has regularly made anti-drug war comments in attempt to bash America as the "Great Satan" along with attacking America's position on drugs. Many of these "alternative" groups are also linked to the ACLU another Soros' funded outlet which is tied to MoveOn.org. There is a clear case that Soros is attempting to influence Libertarian groups into going against the drug war America is waging. Soros is using Libertarian ideologues and turning the ideologues into anti-American ideologues to what Anthony Gregory at Lewrockwell.com and Lew himself have become.

Soros is also merging these Libertarian ideologues with other anti-American ideologues that are found on the radical Left which are mostly made up of hardline Socialists and Communists. Thus the term-Libertarian-Socialist. Lewrockwell.com has not just forwarded Soros' belief that the War on Drugs should end, but it has also praised Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore. Both have always loved to label America as the "Great Satan" of the world. Chomsky and Moore especially since Chomsky believes America is "continuing" Nazi Germany's foreign policy while Moore praises Iraqi terrorists as the "revolution of Iraq" and that they are "freedom fighters". These are all signs on how Soros and his Communist pals are perfectly exploiting Libertarian ideologues and are recruiting them into the anti-American Communist-Socialist mindset.

Libertarian ideologues are so hardline with their beliefs, that they believe anyone who disagrees with their policies is to the Left of them. That type of thinking can lead to exploitation by anti-American ideologues and Communist agents through people like Soros and his associates. Such ideologues like these can no longer remain sane and are being used as puppets to forward a secret agenda.
