Hotline: Republicans Will Pressure Allen... Soon
Hotline/National Journal ^ | November 8, 2006

Posted on 11/08/2006 4:15:25 PM PST by RWR8189

Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race. Several outside advisers to Allen want him to make the decision quickly; others in his campaign want to make sure that there's no chance a cache of new votes will turn up. One question: when will (will?) the AP call the race? [MARC AMBINDER]

Heckling isn't illegal. Passing yourself off as an election official is.

(Mind you, I don't think Allen is personally connected to the latter, but the evidence that somebody did it on his behalf is rather compelling.)

Look, the Navy postal liaison people were so far behind the curve in 2000 they were totally blindsided by the jerks in Florida.

In fact, even upon being "invited" neither the Department of Navy nor the Florida Republican party would APPEAL the postmark decision to the USPS for ajudication ~ and BTW, it's USPS that's in charge of that, not Florida.

If they want time and date they can ask for it, but they cannot direct that a "postmark" provided by USPS be provided.

That, is, in fact, why this can still be an issue.

If Navy wants to do time and date stamping, that's up to Navy. The post office on board a ship is operated by Department of Defense. It's supposed to adhere to USPS rules. I don't think they can yet demonstrate that they do so.

Typical. The quote is there because of the sentiment expressed, not the person who said it. If that is enough justification for you to "treat someone like trash," that says all that needs to be said about you. Good day.

well, there are supposed to be observers from both parties.

In some extremely Dem places, like Baltimore City they cannot get enough Republican judges. The Attorney General (father-in-law of governer elect O'Malley) overruled the law not allowing the poll to open without at least one Dem and one Rep. for this election. Many precincts in Baltimore City are in very rough neighborhoods. Getting Republican judges is difficult. Even in the suburban poll where I worked, several check-in judges were Dems acting as the Rep judges. This really doesn't matter except for the chief judges. If all the judges are of one party, the opportunity for voting people who never showed up at the polls is great. Observers, etc. are probably almost non-existent.

I am personally aware of one person who died almost two years ago who is still listed as an active voter. This after the Board of Elections was notified long ago. The opportunity for fraud by simply voting for people who didn't show up during the day is trememdous...and probably far more likely than someone tampering with any software in the machine.

Bertrand Russell's identity simply cannot be excised from his words.

This is one of those "little bit pregnant" situations. You'll just have to learn to live with it.

That's one of the stupidest comments I've ever seen.

You'll just have to learn to live with it.

Sorry you don't get out all that often. I'm sure the world has plenty of ignorant people to keep you entertained.

Allen just threw in the towel and conceded with John Warner at his side. The question is whether he did it on his own or was made an offer he couldn't refuse.

About how many Dem votes would you speculate were accounted for by election fraud of one type or another in this race?

Webb engaged in or tolerated several clearly anti-semitic acts during the campaign. Guy who'd do that would tolerate considerable cheating too.

This Webb character is simply not a morally upstanding person ~ he must be closely watched.

Someone who claims that the identity of the speaker is pertinent to the value, or lack thereof, of the words spoken is calling others ignorant. Poignant.

Is every statement made by someone whose political views differ radically from your somehow invalid? Or do you reserve that for socialists who are also avowed agnostics?

And do Russell's socio-political views also detract from his work on physics? How about those socialists who worked on the Manhattan Project? Are the calculations invalid because of their political views?

Yes, your statement remains as stupid as it was the first time you said it, and you have nothing with which to respond other than juvenile insults. Weak.

Taking one statement out of the context of a lifetime's work pitching dross does not make that statement superior to the dross.

Writers have reputations that reflect, to a degree, their readers ~ folks who read only porn, for example, give us some understanding of the character of the writer.

Now you are just struggling with non-sequiturs because you have nothing else.

muawiyah, it is a QUOTE. I'm not over here reading tomes of Russell. If I put a Mao quote up, that wouldn't make me a Communist either.

Your argument is juvenile and gives more insight into your own character than whatever you are attempting - unsucessfully - to ascribe to me.

Most military (trigger pullers) voted for Webb. Me and my family and almost everyone I know on base and in base housing as well.

I hope you say it loud and proud to the guys who come back from Iraq. It'll be amusing as hell to read about fraggings in base housing.
