WEAK-ly Standard Props Up Democrats Senatorial Candidates

Congratulations to The Weak-ly Standard. The "conservative" magazine did a wonderful job promoting Democrat senatorial candidates Jim Webb, Harold Ford Jr., and Jon Tester in it's last two issues immediately preceding Tuesday's election.

The Standard wrote a long tribute to Webb, calling him a "blood and soil conservative". Despite Harold Ford Jr.'s very low ACU lifetime congressional voting record of 19, the Standard tried to portray him as being similar to his conservative opponent Bob Corker on the issues. Apparently, the magazine was enamored of the notion of having little Harold in the U.S. Senate.

But, most outrageously, the last Weak-ly Standard issue before the election had Jon Tester on it's cover, in a populist pose doing farm work, and asking in bold headlines if Mr. Tester was "The New Face Of The Democratic Party" ? The accompanying cover story on Mr. Tester was so glowing and complimentary that one would have assumed that it had been written for Time or News-weak.

Apparently, Rockefeller Republican Bill Kristol and his minions at The Weak-ly Standard are happy this week. They did everything they could to tip the balance of power in the U.S. Senate to the Democrats. I guess The Standard wants to see the next two Supreme Court justices mirror their "centrist" values.

With friends like Kristol and The Weak-ly Standard, the Republicans don't need enemies.

By the way, I cancelled my subscription to The Standard. I hope all true conservatives will do the same.

Also, prior to the Republican primaries in 2000, William Kristol was begging Colin Powell to run. He said that Powell was the only Republican who could win the Presidency in 2000, and that he would make an "excellent" Chief Executive.

Of course, no one ever questioned him about it after Dubya was elected.

The DNC outwitted the RNC this time, and will come back with the same tactic again in 2008.

I had these morons pegged as liberals years ago.

I don't resent the crap I used to take from some folks here on FR for exposing them as frauds, but it's good to see that so many people here agree with me on this.

The New York Post, the Weekly Standard, and Fox News . . . three media outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch and dominated by big-government, globalist, liberal frauds like Kristol, Barnes, Podhoretz, etc. I haven't patronized any of this sh!t for years.

I agree. My impression is that the Republicans in the beltway loop were more invested in defeating their party than in rooting for it's success. I believe their self serving agenda will bleed voters away from the GOP. IMO, we grass roots Republicans are basically on our own. Which is fine by me. At least we know who not to depend on. And we will recognize the back stabbers and ignore their input as we gear up for 2008.

( and of course- I am NOT saying "ALL" of them are either- to cut off any other ding-a-ling " "gotta add SOME comment to every post" type busy body , or TROLL who would suggest that here!)

It IS the ONLY Explanation as to explain Some of the GROWING Negative and Anti-Productive comments made FROM supposedly " Conservative Corners " of the media!
THAT- and some AGING Conservatives are falling into the liberal trap of " wanting to be LIKED" or appear as " Look!: I am REALLY a FAIR commentator!- I can EVEN PICK ON MY OWN Party and FRIENDS! ( Gee--sounds like McShame!! from AZ.)

I am starting to conclude that we cannot possibly win a war. On a national level, leaving Democrats (and, for that matter, a lot of Republicans from all corners of the Big Tent) at liberty during a war is like allowing Charlie to wander freely inside the firebase perimeter during a firefight. What I hate most about Webb's election is how he won. Smear a guy over a nothing issue, stand for nothing, have no record, run against what you really stand for and get elected.

And benefit from last minute smears. I was hoping, more than anything, that the voters would reject this type of dirty campaigning. But they didn't and now it will get worse.
