If aides want to quilt, why should that bother anyone? It's social, you can work with your hands, you can give the quilts to the needy...

Kathryn Ann Bailey Hutchison?

Course she doesn't use the hyphen but Bailey is her "maiden name".

She needs to talk less and listen more. An overinflated sense of self-worth if you ask me......

She did similarly when she won her city council seat a while back.

Immediately started throwing her weight around, making demands from mayor Brown's health director (SSG is a physician), wanting council hearings on anthrax attacks, bringing up her patient's issues in a council hearing, etc.

Just a freakish, feminist tobacco nazi.

Actually yesterday the house adjourned until Dec 5th. Then it will probably do a little "house cleaning" and adjourned until January when the 110th takes over.

So Ms.S-Gibbs has missed her chance to do anything besides make noise.

If most Americans realized the vast empires and cost associated with congress and the senate...they'd start laughing. Going back 80 years...most had a secretary and one assistant...at the most. You see huge growth by the senate after WWII with their staff members...all paid by the US taxpayer. Personally...I can understand having a secretary and maybe two people in DC with you...arranging your schedule and making sure you show up at the right place. And maybe two people back in your home district answering questions and having a home office. But some of these jokers have two experts on their staff...just to write speeches and grease up lobbyists. The amusing part about staffs...is that there are 30 or 40 members in DC who are like little Army generals. They manipulate their congressman and have lobbyists paying for various trips or special favors. Often, these congressmen are so stupid...they don't even realize that Billy Joe...their glorous assistant...added a 3-line item into the law package authorizing a Polish-pottery company in Tupelo a $150k tax write-off. The congressman will never figure this out and you write it in a way that most reporters will easily miss.

"The Fort Bend, Harris, Galveston, and Brazoria County leaders who picked her for this have demonstrated that they ought to be demoted to walking precincts."

I don't think Brazoria County is represented by this position.

That said, you are right. I hope they can pick a more solid conservative like DeLay next time. The district is solidly conservative even after the redistricting which took place a while back.

Arrogant is the word that comes to mind.

The Republicans probably in a better losing the seat for 2 years than they would have been if they had needed to unseat her in the primary next time.

FWIW, There are a few precincts in each of Galveston and Brazoria counties, but most are in Fort Bend and Harris. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas%27s_22nd_congressional_district

(SSG is a physician)

THAT explains a lot.

I haven't seen a physician turned professional politician that didn't have a HUGE god-complex, going all the way back to Herr Doctor Mengele, right up to Oregon's Governor Kitzhaber & Howard Dean.

Gee, how strange...ALL of them are socialists of one type or another.

Why in the world does a congresscritter need more than ONE assistant and ONE secretary???
@@@@@@

One of the many great untold stories of our modern Capitol Hill is the exorbitant number of staff that work there. The number is in the thousands.

These staffers are probably shopping resumes to other Republicans before January's big march to the unemployment offices.

When Republicans gained seats, the dems held a job fair to increase the number of slots available so that few if any staffers to congressmen and senators who lost seats would actuallyl have to leave the Hill. I do not know this for a fact, but I would not be surprised if incoming Republicans were convinced to absorb some of those Dem staffers. Our Republican politicians are not street fighters and the Dems are totally political every minute of every day.

How could it be a "hit piece" when she's the one publicly demanding an investigation into why staffers didn't want to work for someone who was only there for six weeks?

Maybe she's trying to beat out Sheila Jackson Lee as Houston's most embarassing and unstable elected official.

There, there sweetheart. Have a nice little pill and a comfy nap.
Two weeks from now it will seem like a bad dream.
For us, anyway.

There is not much context to the story.

I could see the staffers already upset at having to leave in the first place and tempers being on edge.

As I said, I believe this is just another attempt to make the Republicans look bad.

She certainly has done a good job of that. Who needs Democrats with this kind of "Republican."

My, see how quickly one is ready to believe the MSM!

Maybe it is the Delay staff that is wrong?

Maybe it is just a misunderstanding?

But the MSM that none of us trust for accuracy, since they drop context, we now believe?

I would like more facts and details on what happened before condemning someone, who, according to people close to her, is out of character to behave in a heavy handed way.

Ithink they are trying to make both Delay's team and Mrs. Gibbs look bad so that they can keep Republcans divided in CD22. Actually, nothing in this account makes DeLay's team sound bad. They sound quite good, if anything. Only Sekula-Gibbs sounds like a witch in this report. The undeniable fact of the matter is that she is ridiculously and petulantly calling for an investigation of Mr. DeLay's staff, who don't work for her anymore. No one made that up..

What is lacking is context.

Is this Free Republic, where the MSM is constantly riducled for their inaccuracy and half-truths?

We know that Gibbs abused the Delay staff?

We know the manner in which she is asking for an investigation?

As for looking bad, I think walking out on a duly elected Republican Congresswoman is petulant and childish.

Are these grown men who can't work a couple of weeks with her?

Delay quit on the district and now they quit on the transition team.

Is there a pattern here?

In this case I believe the MSM relishes a hopelessly naive and arrogant REPUBLICAN congresswoman coming in for a few weeks and expecting to change the world. (No, I don't believe a democrat would receive the same treatment).

Just a few days ago she had that hilarious news conference where she claimed she was going to cut taxes, solve illegal immigration and the war in Iraq, find the Lindburgh baby, implement Cold Fusion energy production, and instruct NASA to build enough starships to properly greet the return of the Mothership.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-gibbs15nov15,1,1158078.story?ctrack=1&cset=true

Short-timer staffers who are packing up knowing they are moving from Washington in days and weeks are trying to find other jobs and move familes home after serving Delay and the Majority in DC for years understandably would balk at the 8 day work week and 25 hour days Gibbs was demanding.

Where did all of Shelley's defenders go? There were quite a few of them yesterday, and they got downright indignant.

guess she's not looking to the GOP nomination in 08?
