Ahmadinejad encourages 'Death to America' refrain

Here's more extensive translation of the speech mentioned above. The Iranian president was speaking to what BBC Monitoring called a big crowd in the town of Sanandaj in Iran's Kurdistan Province. The speech was broadcast live on Iranian TV:

...Wherever America and Britain go, they bring nothing but injustice, corruption and ruin. See for yourself. On the nuclear issue, too, it's the same. They have taken nuclear energy into their own possession. And they want to rule over the entire world with this technology.

To have it as a monopoly and to impose their demands on the nations of the world. When they see that the Iranian nation, young Iranians, brave and pious, stand firm, with empty hands but with lofty effort and with deep thought, and obtain nuclear energy by themselves, they become upset, they become angry, the use insulting language, threats, issue resolutions, frown, admonish. They don't want to see nations make progress. They lie and say that they oppose bombs and war. You can see that, wherever in the world where there is war, they are involved. Wherever there are weapons of mass destruction, they are made by them. It is their warehouses that are full of chemical, nuclear and biological weapons. The nation of Iran, the people of Kurdistan, are a peace-loving nation and people, humane people and loving people. Our people love all of humanity. Our nation has not used force against anyone. But this nation, these young people, the young people of Sanandaj and Kurdistan have shown that they will stand, all united, against bullying and will not succumb to bullying. [Crowd chants Death to America, other indistinct slogans, remarks to which Ahmadinezhad replies:]

It will be Kurdistan's turn now. If I may, I want you to express the Iranian nation's wish - you expressed it in the very sweet Kurdish language, now I want you to say it in Persian so that the world can hear, can know, the Iranian nation is standing by its nuclear right and will advance to the end.

Let the world hear, the entire Iranian nation, solidly, underlines its self-evident right to use nuclear energy. Listen, this is the cry of the people of Sanandaj. [Crowd chants Nuclear energy is our self-evident right.]

Of course, thanks be to God, please pay attention, I want to tell you an important point, in this effort that they made to prevent our nation, time is on the Iranian nation's side. With every day that passes, they have to take one step backwards and to acknowledge the Iranian nation's right. And with every day that passes, the Iranian nation takes one step closer to the peak of victory. And, as I said yesterday, God willing, thanks be to God, thanks to your faith and steadfastness, God willing, before the end of this year [current Iranian year ends in March], we will hold a big nuclear celebration throughout Iran.

We advise them, both the ones who held posts before [in the US Congress] and the ones who obtained posts recently - they want to say with complicated propaganda that, in the American elections, it was the party and Mr Bush who were defeated. I want to tell you, all nations have realized and you too should know: the defeat that occurred in America was a defeat for America's policies, the policy of aggression, the policy of inappropriate interference, the policy of bullying, the policy of arrogance and selfishness is what was defeated.

And, in the words of the people of Sanandaj, I advise the people who've recently taken up posts: Be careful! If you want to do the same things in a different guise, you should know, the same destiny awaits you.

We also advise the people who are still half-way in their posts [on the way out]: use your remaining time to serve the people of America. What are you doing in our region? What do you want from the Palestinian people? What do you want from the Iraqi people? What do you want from the people of Lebanon and Afghanistan. Gather up your forces, take them to your own country and serve your own people. Why do want to line your own pockets through aggression, through killing, through the plunder of nations' wealth? You should know, if you don't cease this behaviour, the destiny of all the world's bullies also awaits you, God willing..."

The speech was translated from Persian by BBC Monitoring. There were articles about part of speech by the big news agencies, but I didn't notice any of them mentioning the 'Death to America' part.

I'm trying to think of one single thing that any Muslim has ever invented to benefit humanity.

I'm drawing a blank here.

How about if we return the sentiment by chanting: "Ahmadinejad sleeps with pigs!"

How about trampling muslims to death at Ramadan. Not that I would wish that on them.

So, when Iran gets nuked (I'm betting that Israel will do the honors after Iran fires off a nuke at Israel), will Iranian Kurdistan be allowed to join with Iraqi Kurdistan?
