Hillry has been elected Senator two times. Rudy's highest office was Mayor.

Rudy supported and voted for the Clintons, what can he possibly claim to make him different, more electable than Hillry??

Now out here in fly over country the religious base is NOT exactly what it appears to be, biggest open secret in all of the political world. Hillry STOOD by her man, sinner than he 'was', and believe you me that means a whole lot to a whole lot of religious voters.

Further Hillry worked with Tom Delay on 'foster care' quite the compassionate thing don't you think, think she does not have in her war room heaps and heaps of ad material.

Also Newt allowed himself to get the Hillry picture of health care fixing. Didn't Santorum also crawl into Hillry's bed for some 'good Samartain' workings.

There is a reason why President Bush and Veep Cheney select one word to describe Hillry 'formidable'.

Rudy running a good shop in New York City is history to the rest of Americans.

He is another Lincoln Chaffe.

Chaffe not only voted agaisnt Alito, he voted against President Bush too.
Guiliani voted FOR President Bush, and has made it clear he'll appoint Supreme Court Justices in the mould of Alito and Roberts.
Not to mention Chaffe is strongly against the WOT, the Patriot Act and the War in Iraq.
Guiliani strongly backs them all.
The two of them are not even close to being on the same planet when it comes to views.

Well, I don't live in NY, which is why I keep asking (so far, in vain) for additional examples of Rudy's great leadership during 9/11.

As for your electability argument, I am a conservative and am looking for a conservative to support in the primaries. You can reduce the whole universe of electable Republicans down to McCain and Rudy at this time, but I will not. Do I think that a conservative can defeat Hillary? Absolutely. Do I think it probable? Ask me in 23 months, which is several eons in political time.

BTW, the "too conservative/electability" argument was used by G.H.W. Bush supporters against Reagan in 1980, and it still gladdens my heart remembering how Big Ron crushed Mr. Peanut and Mondale.

Hillry has been elected Senator two times

Elected twice and done what in that time exactly?
BTW, Giuliani was elected twice too and has VERY SOLID achievements to show for his time as mayor.
Hitelry has essentially NOTHING to show for her time in the US Senate.
And oh she voted AGAINST the Patriot Act back in December last year.

I am for Rudy because he understand the enemy, islam, and IMO will be effective in prosecuting this war.

And if we don't win this war, conservative issues and nothing else actually matters.

This is a conservative site but it is also a forum wherein conservatives understand this war.

But of course it is typical of Rudy-haters to attack opponents with the "you aren't a conservative" charge...so I don't hold it against you.

Read # 66 for starters.
After that you can do an Live.com search for more on what Guiliani did in his time as mayor here.

Oh don't think these liberals won't re-wrap that Patriot Act, cause they are smarter and better than conservatives/Republicans.

These liberals know one thing, they got elected by out conserving conservatives and they will have to keep up that 'act' to maintain their power.

The biggest transformation of a political party is well under way, Hillry will need to wall out and off the Deaniacs and if $ORO$ keeps his word of moving out of politics into policy there goes the Deaniacs funder.

Then-Mayor Rudy gave homosexuals high-paid city jobs including the son of Liberal Party honcho Ray Harding (who endorsed Rudy and gave Rudy the Liberal Party ballot line). Russell Harding stole the city blind, giving himself unauthorized salary raises, stealing electronic equipment, enjoying gay porn, internet child porn, and traveling with gay friends on the taxpayers' dime. When appraised of the ripoff, and that Russell was being prosecuted, Rudy said he "felt bad" for the Harding family.

That'll sell well in the South and Midwest. Not.

Rudy promoted his ex-driver---Bernie Kerik---for Homeland/Sec Chief. Kerik's nomination flopped b/c of his shady background, an illegal nanny problem, and for using an official post-9/11 pad for extra-marital trysts. Kerik later pleaded guilty to having mob connections.

Yeah, but unlike NJ, at least it wasn't his supposed gay lover. Just a mobbed-up flunky. Of course, none of the Mafia stuff has anything to do with them being Italian and from New York. No, of course not.

Why didn't you become mayor at a time when crime was making everyone's life hell, and hammer the hoods, the vicious killers and the muggers into the ground?

Your constitutional right to own a gun ends at the New York City limit... Batman does not exist and Paul Kersey of "Death Wish" ain't real either...

Leadership? Only sheep need leaders...

I am a conservative Republican but that does not mean I believe in forgoing power to stand on principle.

Your statement also means you are willing to sacrifice your principles to maintain power. That is a contradiction. People gain power by sustaining their principles. The 'bipartisanship' garbage the RINOs have attempted resulted in the RATs gaining control of Congress. Sacrificing your principles will get you the type of government you are against. You claim to be a conservative but your actions and particularly your support of Giuliani's socialist views prove otherwise.

Agreed. Like Nixon, Allen gave his enemies the means by which to defeat him.

Dumb.

Nonsense.
Giuliani has consistently out-polled McCain amongst conservatives.
Even here at Freerepublic Giuliani consistently does better than McCain in polls.
And in theory McCain is considerably more a social conservative than Giuliani is.

Yeah, but unlike NJ, at least it wasn't his supposed gay lover

Even more nastiness from the Hitelry paid assassins and flunkies huh?
Have you considered getting a life?

Just a mobbed-up flunky.

Is that so?
Is that why crime , including murder, fell very sharply with him as police chief?

Of course, none of the Mafia stuff has anything to do with them being Italian and from New York. No, of course not

Calling every Italian who runs for public office a mafia is a favorite tactic of the RATS vermin
If I remember correctly, the first thing Howard Dean did when Justice Alitio was nominated was promptly insinuate that being Italian, Justice Alito had to be linked to the mafia.
It didn't work for Howard Dean, its not gonna work for Hitlery's paid assassins like you either.

We keep hearing this but there are a few inconvenient facts in the way.

However dramatically you (or Rudy) might want to promote his efforts, the truth is that New York was a sewer due to the dereliction of the voters. Since Rudy, by the standards of most the country, it's been upgraded to a stable.

Both crime and abortion rates have fallen across the country, dating from the mid-Nineties. There's no real apparent reason for it and neither party is in any position to take credit for it. It's not clear the pro-life and pro-concealed carry people get a lot of credit either. So unless New York is a particularly evil haven of crime, the crime rate would have fallen there no matter what, just as it did in all those other cities where Our Holy Savior His Rudiness did not reign supreme. The extent to which Rudy made that trend more effective can be debated.

Yep...

I do not belong to a political party to be "bipartisan."

"...against Reagan in 1980, and it still gladdens my heart remembering how Big Ron crushed Mr. Peanut and Mondale."

Yes, we agree on that. I don't know how we let it slip away, but slip away it did. I just don't think that can be duplicated anymore - there is no true conservative even approaching President Reagan's stature.

And I do hope you're right. If a more conservative candidate emerges and gains the kind of stature the Rudy and McCain now have, all the better.

As to examples of leadership, here's a short list that does not include his 9/11 performance:

1) His smackdown - HARD - of the "Reverend" Al Sharpton in the early days of his Mayoralty. When I saw that, I realized we had elected a real man for the job.

2) His immediate attention to the "quality of life" issues, and his insistence the the NYPD get the job done. For the first time in my life as a NYer, I finally saw a Mayor that looked at the middle class as people to be respected, not disdained.

3) His belief that a big city need not be a crime capital, and his intolerance for law-breaking citizens of ANY AND EVERY stripe.

4) Fiscal policies that made the city business-friendly, and taking NY out of terrible debt - and worse bond ratings.

5) Calling Arafat a murderer; refusing to kowtow to him; THROWING HIM OUT of a reception at Lincoln Center because he, Arafat, was an uninvited interloper.

6) Handing back the check - you know that story.

If you look at the list of NYers who HATED Rudy, you'll know why you have to vote for him.

That rant does not even come close to answering my question.
Try again.
In case you forgot, here's my question again:
"Why didn't you become mayor at a time when crime was making everyone's life hell, and hammer the hoods, the vicious killers and the muggers into the ground?"
This was after you had claimed you coulda done everything Giuliani did.
