Breaking: Frist Won't Run

Sources close to outgoing Maj. Leader Bill Frist tell the Hotline that Frist has decided not to run for President.

He will make a formal announcement this afternoon, the sources said.

Frist made the decision in recent days after consulting family, friends and advisers.

Perhaps now all the people who wanted a pleasant but dull guy as the GOP nominee will shift their support to Gov. Pataki. He's another one who shouldn't bother, IMO. If lightning struck and he were to get nominated I can't believe he would even carry NY.

Frist has a problem. It's not necessarily that he's a weenie or RINO, but that the media ignored him. In fact, I can't even think what the guy looks like.

The news media ran to Dingy, Dirty Harry Reid and to Nancy the Pelosi for comment on everything. They seldom ever went to Frist or the Speaker of the House whose name I can't even recall right now (joke).

Good, he only would have embarassed himself.

One has to wonder how these no-huevoes light weights get it into their minds that they're presidential timber to start with.

Too bad. He's been a brilliant, honest, and conservative public servant.

Those who fault Frist should really fault John McCain's gang of 14. McCain has undercut our president and the ability of a Republican Congress to make real progress.

Frist was brilliant each time he led the Senate Campaign Committee. He extended Republican control, and he demonstrated a real gift for organizing a campaign.

I regret that conservatives have turned against one of their own. We will need him in the future.

I doubt it. Gov. Bredesen is a fairly conservative Democrat - he was just resoundingly re-elected.

Unless Bredesen runs for President (unlikely - the moonbats will never wear it) - he'll be governor in Tennessee for as long as he wants to be.

Four years is a long time but if he keeps himself visible, he'd stand a chance.

Speaking for Tennesseans everywhere, lets hope not. The state income tax issue will undoubtedly rear it's ugly head next gubernatorial cycle. Tennessee needs a real governor who stands on principle to keep the Legislature in line. We don't need a a jellyfish at the helm.....

You know more about the American political system than 98% of Americans.

My hat is off to you for that.

I have a slightly unfair advantage as my BA is in Political Science; American politics was one of the major subjects.

I did get good marks, however. ;)
