Support for embryonic stem cell research played an important role for voters in the 2006 election. The Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative passed in Missouri, and candidates who used support for stem cell research as a central campaign issue were quite successful - 62 percent of races between an opponent and supporter of stem cell research went to the supporter.
The key stem cell candidate victories occurred in Missouri and Wisconsin. Sen. Claire McCaskill's support of stem cell research and the embryonic stem cell ballot initiative helped her defeat incumbent Jim Talent in Missouri. And Gov. Jim Doyle won reelection in Wisconsin after campaigning heavily on his support for the research.
Stem cells were crucial in other races around the country. Supporters of stem cell research won Senate seats in Maryland, New Jersey, and Ohio against opponents, resulting in opponents of embryonic stem cell research losing every Senate race run against a vocal supporter.
Supporters of the research also defeated incumbent representatives opposing embryonic stem cell research in conservative districts in Arizona, California, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Six incumbent opponents of embryonic stem cell research in conservative districts were defeated, with a few others narrowly winning.
Sensing the groundswell of support for embryonic stem cell research, candidates were quick to tout their support; in the last month before the election there were almost twice as many ads about stem cell research as in the previous two months. This electoral strategy paid off for supporters at the polls.
Now it is time for these newly elected senators and representatives to take their campaign issues to Congress. Supporters of stem cell research in the House and Senate have vowed to introduce the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, the same legislation President Bush vetoed last summer. In January, candidates must fulfill their promise to voters by supporting this legislation that will loosen the Bush administration's restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and open the door for basic research and new treatments for diseases that afflict millions of Americans.

It's hard to know what argument against stem cell research was presented in MO but it was not challanged in Wisconsin.

As far as I can tell, psycho Mohammed and his Jihad wasn't a concern in the last election for the majority of self described moderates and registered Independents.

Hey, there is a battle going on. We have to show/teach/make people understand using embryos has been a black hole. Adult SC research has been successful: that fact must be communicated better!!
The leftist death cultists will not stop until they're doing experiments on dying elderly patients...and the "ethicist" from Princeton--I forget his name--who thinks it is okay to starve a child born with deformities...these people will not go away, so conservatives must thwart their beliefs by exposing them to the hearts and minds of the American people.
I don't think the American people want to harm innocent life, but I also don't think we've done a good job communicating the goals and results of the left's actions, either.
Liberals are very fanatical about anything involving the death of a child because it goes against what conservatives believe. If conservatives publicly proclaimed that they were against killing people over the age of 70, liberals would literally be debating killing people over the age of 70.
Like a friend of mine who is studying genetics said; It doesn`t matter where the cell is from, it`s all in the understanding of the programing, that is the Holy Grail of genetics.
For example what you want to aim for is learning the secret of cell assignment. When an egg is fertilized, it divides and divides and then certain cells become lungs, the heart, etc etc. The Holy grail of medicine is taking someones DNA and being able to grow a new heart, a new lung out of that information. Can you imagine? You heart is bad, they grow you a new one, your lungs are shot they grow you a new one, your skin is sagging your bones are brittle, they grow you new skin and bones.
Liberals would have you believe that can only be done through the destruction of new human beings when it is utter nonsense. It all comes down to understanding the mechanics of cellular division and programming assignment. Like my friend says, we die all the time. What makes us live on is because of what is replaced through food air and water. If we can figure out how to channel where that energy goes, how to direct it, then people can live forever.
Personally I want nothing of it, as I believe death is the reward of life. I believe there is no seperation between God and man, that God is everything you see, feel and interact with, that there are no souls but only one soul which is God.
I`m a Jew, and I know their are a lot of Christians on this site who will probably curse me out for saying there is only one soul, but it really has nothing to do with my Judiasm as I am really not a religious person. I just see it as I feel.
People may ask "Is God intelligent"...Well it depends who you talk to. If you talk to Paris Hilton, God is a complete moron. If you talk to Ann Coulter God is a genius. What I am trying to imply is that God is everything. Is he an intelligent force? Like I said, it depends who you interact with because that is God. When you look in the mirror you are seeing God, when you walk through the street you are walking thorugh heaven or hell depending on what you choose. There is no seperation between God, heaven, hell and man. It is all the same. There is no afterlife. When someone dies and you bury them, 300 years from now they are still buried, they are still the same person only they are dead.
For example Abe Lincoln is not gone, he is still here, still around, but he is dead and in a tomb. When someone dies, time and space cease to exist. If you could take every molecule that ever made up Abe Lincoln and re-assembled them, the last thing he would remember would be watching that play like it was a second ago.
They will be used to grow some new candidates.
