Today is "Students Day" in Iran, and thousands demonstrated this morning in universities across the country. Below are pictures taken at Tehran University where the crowd was estimated at several thousand.

Some of the signs read, "Death to Dictatorship", "Death to Islamic Republic", "Students For Workers", "We have nothing to lose to defend freedom", "Free political prisoners now", "Boycott the sham elections".

Police and many more vigilantes (basij) were on hand to control the crowds.

If they were leftists in America or terrorist sympathizers in SWA, that crowd would be estimated to be at least a million.

Whatever, I hate to say it, but I trust them more not to be stupid enough to make or certainly not to use nukes.

Of course they're Marxists, they're college students. Eventually they'll get a job and become part of the Establishment and the youthful revolutionary spirit will dissipate.

Who do you think they would point them at if they had guns?

The mullahs. The morality police. The Revolutionary Guard. Those in power. The police, perhaps. There are plenty of targets of opportunity.

"Guns, lots of guns."

In as much as (1)the Mullahs don't give a damn what the majority of the people in Iran want and (2)the Mullahs have rigged the "election" system so that no one they don't want can even consider being a candidate for anything, (3) the protests, as far the Mullahs are concerned is simply "bread and circus" ("let the little darlings blow off steam, so they won't blow off our heads").

You can call that "freedom", but at least the protestors, unlike you, know it is as false as the sham elections.

It astounds me that our media won't cover these. These demonstrations happen all the time, and there is never a word in the MSM. Especially considering these young people are trying to overthrow a government that wants to see the U.S. and Israel destroyed.

Our media is more concerned with what Britney Spears said or wears, or that some comedian used a racist term.

How ironic, while they protest for freedom our college students protest for socialism.

There are some advantages to dealing with commies, namely:

1) They like girls.

2) They want to live.

This gives me the willies. Nothing comes out of there that I don't look at with a jaundiced eye. In my mind Pakistan showed it's most moderate face as it built the nuclear bomb arsenal. These guys think they are so slick and they can pull wool on us. Wouldn't doubt if this isn't staged to make people think the sheep will rise up. They won't. The tyranny is too entrenched and is too amenable to the way they like things anyway.

I bet there were a lot of "free" Japanese marching to the bushido drum. The people that run the country all have very short hair and nappy beards. These are known as the macho men of Iran and they want action, big time action. They want us to go up in flames, preferably at each others throats after they set up the chain of events.

I wouldn't say that. It said they had police and vigilantes present. The Chinese students protested once too. Didn't work out so well.

"It astounds me that our media won't cover these"

You have no idea how frustrating it is to those insde and outside Iran who are trying to support regime change.
If the MSM spent 1 minute reporting these protests each time they ocurred, the size of the protests would grow and grow and it would put trmemendous pressure on the regime and on other countries to support regime change too.

???Yeah, that Ahmadinejad is a real moderate. I wish he'd cut out all the moderate talk. He's sure pulling the wool over MY eyes!

Stage democratic activities, lull the neutered 60% of the west into thinking we can work this out. In Pakistan they "elected" a woman to be President, lol. Could you see that today now that they are armed? LO-freaking-L.
