RICK WARREN: Obama is "amazing" and has "got the stuff" to be Prez...
TownHall ^ | 12.18.06 | Kevin McCullough

Remember back when Rick Warren was adamantly denying that his inviting Barack Obama to his HIV conference had anything to do with politics?

Well - if that's the case - why is it that he's now TALKING POLITICS on CNN and sending the message that "Obama's Da Man"?

I know Billy Graham is a man of God and he does not take sides in politics.

How disappointing he is suddenly hitting the airwaves this way just as I did his "40 Days" with our church.

He seems like a good person but maybe he's just loo-loo and too rose-colored glasses naive.

I once admired Rick Warren; participated in Purpose Driven Life and Purpose Drive Community programs are our church. I no longer have the same opinion of him and no longer would spend one dime or one minute on anything he has to offer.

Me too. However, before I pass final judgment I would appreciate seeing a link to a direct quote from him. If anyone has it, I would certainly like to see it. Thanks.

Power corrupts I guess. It happened to my former pastor who has apparently decided he's much too busy for the congregation in the church "he" built. He's become "important". Shame when it happens.

Unless it's a black church. Especially a church with huge names like Jackson or Sharpton.

Pastors are just people, they do not have a lock on beign faultless. I do think there are christians who are dims. I know several. For a long time I thought it was not possible, but I think many are good God fearing people and just on a different side of issues than I am.

LOL! I had th chuckle at your analogy. Too bad it is so true. The Name it and Claim it - God wants you to be happy; new "gospel" has nearly replaced the Biblical Gospel of the Death, Burial, and resurrection of God's Word.
It is a watered down, something for everybody, gospel that we were warned of:

Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

RICK WARREN: Obama is "amazing" and has "got the stuff" to be Prez...

So I guess Warren has gone back on that "I stay out of politics"
mantra I've heard him speak in at least a couple of interviews...

But there's a danger when the pastor goes from being the pastor to being "he who must not be approached". When a pastor becomes a "star" or achieves some sort of celebrity status, there can be a form of "pastor worship" that takes place-where they can do no wrong & people are expected to go along or go period. Sometimes it's the pastor who refuses to allow opposing opinions.

How many nationally prominent, elected democrats are anti-abortion. Dem politicians are the subject of the remark, not specifically dem voters.
