Why won't Carter debate his book?
boston.com ^ | December 21, 2006 | By Alan Dershowitz

YOU CAN ALWAYS tell when a public figure has written an indefensible book: when he refuses to debate it in the court of public opinion. And you can always tell when he's a hypocrite to boot: when he says he wrote a book in order to stimulate a debate, and then he refuses to participate in any such debate. I'm talking about former president Jimmy Carter and his new book "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid."

Carter's book has been condemned as "moronic" (Slate), "anti-historical" (The Washington Post), "laughable" (San Francisco Chronicle), and riddled with errors and bias in reviews across the country. Many of the reviews have been written by non-Jewish as well as Jewish critics, and not by "representatives of Jewish organizations" as Carter has claimed. Carter has gone even beyond the errors of his book in interviews, in which he has said that the situation in Israel is worse than the crimes committed in Apartheid South Africa. When asked whether he believed that Israel's "persecution" of Palestinians was "[e]ven worse . . . than a place like Rwanda," Carter answered, "Yes. I think -- yes."

When Larry King referred to my review several times to challenge Carter, Carter first said I hadn't read the book and then blustered, "You know, I think it's a waste of my time and yours to quote professor Dershowitz. He's so obviously biased, Larry, and it's not worth my time to waste it on commenting on him." (He never did answer King's questions.)

Useless to the rest of the country?

Not so, just follow the MSM on Carter. He is part of the established, blame America first crowd and, this is the headline for the MSM.

Why won't Carter debate his book?

I myself am seriously starting to wonder if Carter even does write these books, as opposed to having them ghosted. (Or if he has even read any of them!)

Actually writing a book -- the writing, the research, the organization, the proofing, etc. etc. -- takes time, even with a stenographer.

Yet here he is, a regular gadabout flying all over the world for whoknowswhat and yet these books of his dropping into bookstores like apples out of a tree -- **boom** here's one...**boom** here's another...What are we talking about? Something like 13+ books in as many years, or less? Who is this guy? Barbara Cortland or something?

Dershowitz has found a lot of nuts for a blind squirrel, and has been accurate more than twice a day.

Give the guy credit for having pulled his head halfway out of his @$$.

Carter is a Democrat. This statement tells one enough about the person he is.

All of the religious rhetoric he has proclaimed over the years
stating how it is a sin to look at a beautiful woman and lust.

Agreeing this is a sin, I don't want Carter telling me this. Because, one who upholds abortion and homosexuality and, anyone belonging to the Democrat party is upholding these beliefs.

Carter wants everyone to think he is such a saint, as many Democrats try displaying themselves. But, as a Christian, most people know the word Christianity, and Democrat just want go together.

I wonder if any of this experience is opening Alan Dershowitz's eyes to what it is like to debate with the lunatic liberals who are supported by the mainstream media. Welcome to our world, Alan! You were often on the wrong side of it but maybe now you'll see what we've been fighting for 40 years.

He doesn't have to...

The Leftist Media has already presented his viewpoints, unchallenged, for him, so why should he waste any breath in "Defense" of the "Accepted" facts???

If you think that the 24/7 non-stop parade of leftist propoganda and hatred that coiost us the last election has ended, you'd be SADLY mistaken...

If anything, the lies are becoming the established "Facts"..

If you have ANY doubt about this, just look at the postings in the last ONE HOUR, from the yahoo board of the Evil, Hated by Liberal, Enemy of the People HALLIBURTON message board, on Yahoo...

When a homo-infested commie rag like Slate calls your work moronic, you have to know the jig is up.

"El cultivador de los cacahuetes" is fearful of debating his propagandist screed because of two things:

1) He knows he'd get crushed, and

2) He knows the suicidal leftmedia will cover for him.

I'm not sure that he commanded the sub. I always thought he was a nuclear engineer on the sub, but of course I could be wrong (just ask my wife.) :)

***Why won't Carter debate his book?***

Because he has to ask his daughter Amy for the her response.

(A Reference to the Carter/Regan debate.)

I believe Carter at one time Commanded a Nuclear Submarine.

Detached from Pomfret on 1 February 1951, Carter was assigned as Engineering Officer for the precommissioning detail for USS K-1 (SSK 1). K-1, the first postwar submarine built, was under construction by Electric Boat Division, General Dynamics Corporation, Groton, Connecticut. After K-1's commissioning on 10 November 1951, Carter served as Executive Officer, Engineering Officer, and Electronics Repair Officer. During this tour he also qualified for command of a submarine.

From 1 March to 8 October, Carter was preparing to become the engineering officer for the nuclear power plant to be placed in USS Seawolf (SSN 575), one of the first submarines to operate on atomic power. He assisted in setting up training for the enlisted men who would serve on Seawolf. During this time his father became very sick and died in July 1953. After his father's death in 1953, Carter resigned from the Navy to return to Georgia to manage the family interests.

Not even close.
