AIM Report: U.S. Borders: Going-Going-Gone! - December B
Accuracy in Media ^ | December 22, 2006 | Wes Vernon

Readers of the AIM Report are accustomed to learning of huge distortions or omissions by the media. This time, the under-reported story deals with the possible end of America, as we know it.

Major players are secretive and are trying to keep the media out of the loop. But that does not let the mainstream media off the hook. There is enough stonewalling, secrecy and there are plenty of telltale signs, so that any assignment editor whose curiosity is not aroused is probably in the wrong business.

But in terms of the national media, only Lou Dobbs of CNN has blown the whistle on a scheme whereby a North American "Security and Prosperity Partnership," being implemented by the Department of Commerce, could pave the way for a transnational entity called the North American Union.

The implications of this scheme are staggering. Some experts say that up to a million people in Texas stand to lose their homes and 584,000 acres of rich farm and ranchland are to be destroyed, all for a privately funded highway. Of course, this is not the first time property-owners did battle with highway builders. That in itself is getting lots of media attention, but almost entirely in the regional/local media. At first glance, one might say this is a local story, so why should it go national?

But suppose you were told that this "highway" (to be built largely by foreign investors) could serve as the starting point for a much larger plan whose end result would be to erase the borders (figuratively if not literally) between the United States, Mexico, and Canada? Wouldn't you be curious, no matter where you live? The national media isn't interested.

The Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) is its official name. Critics call it the NAFTA Highway...

Lovely.

IMHO, second only to the global war on Islamofascism, the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) represents the greatest threat to our country.

Follow this link and begin reading on page 23 of the .pdf file which is page one of the report.

President Bush is bound and determined to let the illegals overrun our country. Go read the report.

Lots of could, might, and what ifs, in all this conjecture. Hillary is a much greater threat to our borders that super toll roads.

I sure don't want to live in a place like the EU!
Great geographically speaking, just like the US is, but otherwise... we can visualize Kalifornia with English as a second language (or third).

That's been in motion for quite some time now.

Another problem with open borders is that we have imported the criminal class of Mexico and Central america into this country.

The press secretary for the California Republican Party is the son of illegal aliens who came the USA 35 years ago. In this article he chronicles how in recent years there has been a massive change in the number and kind of illegals coming north. Including a crimnal element that is causing a deterioration in the quality of life of Americans. Consider this article Illegal aliens murder 12 Americans daily Death toll in 2006 far overshadows total U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, Afghanistan

People have been referring to the Captains Quarters as a rebuke to the assertions of the article. The Captain's Quarters make the assertion that for the numbers to be true it would have to be the case that a small number of people were committing a lot of crimes. That is to say far outside the statistical norm for the USA. The problem is that he didn't actually check the federal stats. As it happens it is the case that illegals tend to be very repeat offenders. 3

Below are some government stats to back up the article's assertioms

From the FBI crime statistics * An estimated 16,692 persons were murdered nationwide in 2005, an increase of 3.4 percent from the 2004 figure. * Murder comprised 1.2 percent of the overall estimated number of violent crimes in 2005. (Based on Table 1.) * There were an estimated 5.6 murders per 100,000 inhabitants.

Illegal Alien Crime Wave

On April 7, 2005, the US Justice Department issued a report on criminal aliens that were incarcerated in federal and state prisons and local jails. In the population study of 55,322 illegal aliens, researchers found that they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than 1 arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990. They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses.

CRIMINAL HISTORY

More than two-thirds of the defendants charged with an immigration offense were identified as having been previously arrested. Thirty-six percent had been arrested on at least 5 prior occasions; 22%, 2 to 4 times; and 12%,1 time. Sixty-one percent of those defendants had been convicted at least once; 18%, 5 or more times; 26%, 2 to 4 times; and 17%, 1 time. Of those charged, 49% had previously been convicted of a felony: 20% of a drug offense; 18%, a violent offense; and 11%, other felony offenses. Twelve percent had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor. Defendants charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. Nine in ten had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, half had been arrested on at least 5 prior occasions. Fifty-six percent of those charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted of a violent or drug-related felony. By contrast, under half of those charged with alien smuggling, a third of those charged with unlawful entry, and just over a quarter those charged with misuse of visas and other charges had previously been arrested. The criminal histories of these defendants were generally less extensive: more than 70% had been previously arrested fewer than 5 times. I couldn't get your link to work. Maybe it is just me as my network has been down all morning. Will you verify that the link is working?

It is a little late for the media to be getting into this but I appreciate anyone who will help save the USA.

I finally got thearticle up. It is long but worth the read.

From the article

Hidden Agenda

The SPP is very secretive about the 20 "working groups" it has spawned where bureaucrats from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are rewriting proposals for our laws, regulations and trade agreements whose ultimate effect would be to create a North American Union.

AIM e-mailed the SPP asking where and when the "working groups" were meeting. Who are their members? What rules, laws, regulations, and agreements were they re-writing? What is their content?

Trying to penetrate the layers of bureaucracy to get to the SPP office can put one's patience to the ultimate test. Telephone inquiries get the runaround, and e-mail requests for information are ignored. A Commerce spokeswoman did tell investigative author Jerome Corsi the working groups "do not wish to be distracted by calls from the public." That sounds like code language for an attempt to keep it hitchhike as long as possible because they know there would be an uproar otherwise.

Pastor, the main dolt behind this was part of Carter's administration.

I disagree with a part of the article that says that NAFTA and free trade are not part of the NAU. I think they are intertwined.

They are doing the same thing to try to keep a lid on the middle eastern, as in Saudis and ect., owner ship of the roads under wraps.

"but AIM is getting into the act..."

I don't know much about AIM...are they worthy of lending credence to this issue?

As long as there are plenty of naysayers out there, this story will never get the national attention it deserves.

It's kind of weird that MSM wouldn't want to use this issue AGAINST the Bush admin. Unless the Pres. has been in cahoots with them all along.

"It is a little late for the media to be getting into this but I appreciate anyone who will help save the USA."

AIM isn't the media, but is a media watchdog which regularly reports on the bias and inaccuracy of the MSM.

In other words, the MSM is still AWOL on this particular treasonous scandal. Just as we would expect them to be...

I consider just one article that doesn't end up in "chat" a blessing. I could care less who writes it anymore.

Merry Christmas.

I heard it was 10 million people and 1,000,000,000 acres. It's a Christmas miracle!
