Birds prefer their droppings to be on white cars, according to a scientific study.
Student teacher Charles West, 37, carried out the survey for his department of education at Bristol University.
He enlisted the help of 40 researchers and counted bird droppings on 2,000 motors reports The Sun.
The team concluded that birds were less likely to dirty navy blue and black.
Bird expert Dr Derek Toomer said they might "bomb" white cars because they associate the colour with predators.
He added: "Birds do respond to colours.
LOL thanks
I've got to figure out how to cash in on these grant funded studies.
It's the same way we humans make our toilets white. We like to see our skid marks just to make sure.
Makes me glad I went with the silver car after all.
Where's that white privilege?
Birds know no boundaries. Excellent post of the Day, on a most important topic.
My white Buick has taken quite a few good hits.
They're easier to "spot".......
Silver cars, very dangerous. Hard to see in fog and on cloudy days. Insurance studies........
Since I was the family car washer, now I wonder if my dad was having a good laugh at my expense...
We had a Buick as well. White convertable and cleaning that top was a real pain.
White is also the most common car color in the US. If you rent a car anywhere in the south, chances are very high that you're going to get a white one.
Besides polar bears, Arctic foxes in winter coats, and certain weasel color phases, there aren't too many white predators. More likely the instinct being triggered is to drop their feces onto a surface into which they'll blend in, making the bird's presence (as prey) less obvious to predators (of any color).
I just tossed all my white hats. I ain't takin' no chances.
A new study should be commissioned to determine if the U.S. or England wastes more money per capita on moronic studies.
