Ping to the latest report from Walter Reed...

Night classes in civics and government from BufordP and Cindy True Supporter, a visit from a citizen of one of our Coalition partners (Australia), and pedestrian passersby "honking" in support are just a few of the highlights of last Friday's rally for our wounded. Read the report for more...

P.S. Please also read chcknhawk's request near the end of the article, and help him out with his honorable goal.

See you all on Friday, January 19th?

Sorry to hear about the lady dying. Although I disagree with her, it's amazing that she could get out and do what she did.

If it was her idea.

Most Excellent DC FReepers

and thanks for the report Albion & ping Tiggles

Sad to see about the death of the lady in wheel chair. Despite the fact we are 180 degrees politically & no doubt ideologically, we do somehow connect to those even in an adversarial situation & I am sure she was as devoted to her belief system as we are to ours. And isn't that what makes our country so great.. we can freely express our beliefs

Keep on pinging me. Someday I hope to get there. Even from here in West Texas. I have family in Maryland and so there is a chance on day I can make it.

Bless you! This has turned into a tradition that will be long remembered.

I'm not so sure how much that old woman's presence at the Code Pink protest was her own idea.

Her daughter brought her out on Friday nights, plopped her in a wheelchair, piled blankets on her and propped a sign in her lap. The other protesters never spoke much to her, from what I saw when I would go down to take photos of them.

The daughter, who apparently was her caregiver, should have better judgement than to drag a frail, old woman out on such a cold night; and she certainly should not have let her sit for hours in a cold rain - no matter if the little old lady said she wanted to be there. The daughter should have said, "Mom it's too cold and rainy tonight; you'll get sick. We're not going." Been (almost) there, done that. As the caregiver, it was her responsibility to look out for her, and she didn't. All that said, when I heard the news I said a prayer for the two of them.

I pinged BillF, to the "rotating writers" comment, too. I hope he can make it out again when the weather is less hostile.

RE the Milblog voting and with respect to CJ's great Milblog, Soldier's Perspective [soldiersperspective.us], there is another FReeper in the running,

Mr Smash Goes to Washington [indepundit.com]

There is also Andi's World [andisworld.typepad.com] who is not a FReeper but a great supported of the D.C. Chapter and the troops in Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Citizen Smash is the one who interviewed the wheelchaired lady that recently died. If I remember correctly, she really wasn't into the antiwar protest so her signs were more neutral than anti-American. She was at the mercy of her daughter about where she went.

This post is to give fair exposure to the milbloggers who support the D.C. Chapter.

Takoma, maybe the daughter was TRYING to get rid of what she considered a nuisance & burden?

Sad but true for many. Put them in harms way & hope for best (worst)

Care-giving mom for 15 years has given me perspective on patience etc..

Let's hope you get more TDY in the DC area -- we'd love to see you again. Thanks for reading; and btw, nice writing on your home page and links -- over a thousand hits! Wow!:

Journalists would have to work to create differences between journalism and liberalism, and simply lack any motive to do so.

Soldier's Perspective is in the lead, and only Sgt. Hook is even close, 492 to 473 when I voted.

Bruce needs a job. Too bad he is killing off the Unions also.

LOL! Communism is its own reward!

Here is what has become of the old-time Democrat party that was once the pride of unions:

I've not been away. I've been following the weekly reports and lovin' 'em. I just don't post much these days. Thank you all so much for being a bright spot in the lives of our wounded warriors. Support is one of the greatest gifts we can give them.

Great to hear from you, Radu! And your observation about giving attention and affirmation to the troops is right on the money! Thanks!

Did he have his hand in his pocket when he said that?

We....have inspired...photographers among the Friday night patriots.

Of all the wonderful photos Plea Deal and [Mrs] Trooprally take week after week (as well as our other talented photographers BillF, Tom the Redhunter, tgslTakoma, Gadsdenman, bmwcyle, DollyCali and many others who have contributed), the reflected colors in this week's photo of the two buses just blew me away! Take a bow, Plea Deal!
