Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

I heard that. The left was always good at putting bodies in the street.

You are an a..hole

These brave soldiers came out to do what you won't do. They came out to defend their fellow soldiers against these idiots.

Enough said before I get booted by the MODS.

MARCH 17, 2007 .....

The COMMIES plan an anti-war rally/march starting at the Vietnam Memorial and march to the Pentagon.

Organize bus transportation and pick up others on your way in.

See post 3!!!

They will now desecrate yet another War Memorial. One that they contributed to greatly...by adding thousands more names!!!

No. We would not do it, we do not copy off stupidity from 40 years ago. But the left does. And if I was in any position such as the host of this thread, I would have NEVER brought wounded vets any where NEAR a leftist anti war rally. And believe me. I am AS patriotic as anyone here, possibly more so.

Oh no, Sandy! I knew I would forget somebody! CRS in my "old age." Thank you very much for joining us in defending our troops and our country. You guys (a generic, non gender-specific term) who came long distances are the best!

kristinn...

The good folks of Free Republic appreciate the DC Chapter and your efforts as you consistently represent many of us who admire your courage & faithfulness.

Do not grow weary (or despondent) in well doing, kristinn.....

We are here supporting you with thankful hearts and prayer many times over...

..and we have been 'on the line' for our great nation defending other arenas under assault.....abortion, illegal immigration, etc.

Countless Freepers are veterans of past wars and many are actively engaged in the present one.

We have not abandoned you, ignored this protest or suddenly become bored with defending our military.

There are many arenas.....many theaters of war and those of us who care, know our parts.

We have not stopped caring, nor will we.

I have been actively involved in pro-life for almost 20 years....

..yet I have never marched with all the others in the yearly anniversary in DC.

But I have marched in my own state, traveling the 6 hours to Tallahassee to join 10,000 strong.

I have stood across the street from an abortuary time and time again.....hoping, praying babies would be saved that day.

We do what we can....where we can.

I joined fellow Freepers & many other patriotic citizens in West Palm during the 2000 debacle....standing on the street holding signs.

We are here, kristinn....

You are there.

Thank-you for being there.

God bless you.

kristinn,
You have met me at various FReeps, in two states.
I am the first to applaud you, and all FReepers who "protest" and "counterprotest" , giving of your own personal time and money to do so.
You have my gratitude.

I was spit upon, while traveling in the USA, in uniform, in the 1980s.
I was targeted by terrorists, in the 1980s, overseas, for wearing my uniform, and no one in the USA cared.
I myself am very uncomfortable "protesting", by which I mean aimlessly marching around a designated area with a "sign" to attract media attention.
I thank you for countering the 60s throwbacks, and sometimes I do physically join in demonstrations, or counter demonstrations, but the fact is, I am looking for a little less talk, and a lot more action.
You are very good at public speaking, Kristinn, and I thank you for all your hard work.
I sincerely hope you have some positive affect, but I ready myself otherwise.

you know, we would have been there with you if we ween't so far away

You and your son and your husband should not have to stand and defend yourselves here - that's the job of the citizens who are benefiting from your sacrifice.

I just wish I could stay for the Pentagon FReep in March, but I'm going back to Seattle February 18th.

I hope to make Walter Reed a couple of times before I leave.

Thank your husband and son for their service, and thanks to the families that support them on the home front.

I'm positive Kristinn was NOT talking about FReepers with similar situations.

We are on the front lines against the moonbats for our service families.

Ya pal, you pucker up... If Vets came to me and said "I wanted to do this" I would discourage them anyway I could. Say your piece on TV or radio. Why put your self in a situation that could have been WAY worse than it ended up.

What's your definition of Martyrdom??

Several were hanging out after the event. I think we all had a different number beginning with 7-8 thousand. There were no more than 10-15,000...maybe 20 IMO.

Looks like we are far enough away from the Vietnam war days and the Jane Fonda anti-American traitorous days that we have a lot of people who do not have a clue what this is all leading up to.
