Oh, wait...
I don't care what any "scientist" says about apples! I will continue to eat an apple a day cuz it keeps the doctors away. This is the truth.
Insanity.
An apple a day may not truly keep the doctor away but it does help certain bodily processes function in a predictable manner.

Right, and it's a huge difference. Two mangoes a day would enhance health, two cokes a day can create all kinds of problems.
So, the apple folks start selling the things with a sticker. "This apple provides 3 servings. Each serving contains less than 16 grams of sugar. To avoid too much sugar, DO NOT eat all 3 servings in one day." Put a label on each grape, too.
Or, better yet, somebody kicks "Food Standards Australia New Zealand" in the ass.
If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826)
There is a huge difference between eating apples and drinking apple juice. In the juice, the calories are much more dense, you might as well be drinking a can of Coke. With an apple itself, the sugars are less concentrated.
Oh FGS. There is a huge difference between refined sugar and sugar in natural foods like fruit.
Fruit is designed to be eaten and to keep the eaters healthy - fruit wouldn't fulfill its function if it acted as a slow poison. The sugar in fruit comes packaged with all the vitamins and minerals needed to digest it properly without messing with the body's vitamin and mineral balance.
Refined sugar is a whole different matter. Try feeding an animal on nothing but refined sugar (and water) and it will die.
An apple a day is fine. Your body needs it.
The problem comes when idiots eat twelve a day because they are just pigs.
Fruit is bad for you? It's back to the beer, chocolate, salt, fat, coffee, etc...(will pass on cigarettes).
Not a big deal for me. I can't stand the smell of an apple. I've had to warn people not to start eating their apple, unless they were ready for me to throw up. I don't know what it is, but that smell makes me sick.
Dr. says nothing is wrong with me. That is the only fruit that affects me. Pears, which are almost the same fruit, don't make me sick.
My absolute favorite fruit is the New Zealand Braeburn apple. The U.S. Washington Braeburn doesn't even compare. I live for springtime when the harvest starts to show up here in Wisconsin.
From what I understand, New Zealand has one of the most fertile soils on the planet and is loaded with nutrients. Hence the very healthy and delicious produce.
Someone needs to stomp on this organization and tell them to leave what nature produces alone. Many of us already cut our fruit in half to reduce the servings size.
I think I'll go have me an apple.
"Scientists" again? Almost makes me want to quit reading.
It's my understanding that bananas are one of natures most perfect foods.
That being understood, I LOVE banana milkshakes.
;^)
If apples are good enough for Ben Franklin, they're good enough for me.
I like my apple slathered with trans fat!
Not an apple fan. They were made (bred) by the Romans from a crabapple-ish fruit, and the texture (especially) is not that appealing. (yes, the article is about fruit sugars).
Dude, there was a scientific study a couple of years ago, courtesy of your taxes (so how come you never even heard about it?) to demonstrate, I kid you not, that, indeed, an apple a day keeps a doctor away. Science, in other words, has gone a full circle, from denying the wisdom of the ages, to proving it using its own methods, which the rest of us aren't allowed to question. Count me sceptical, when it comes to modern science!
