Walter Reed Freep Honor Roll goes to: VAFlagWaver, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Tom the Redhunter, Fraxinus, (Mr.) Trooprally, Kristinn, tgslTakoma, Cindy-True-Supporter, TFRoatz , OlneyKeith and his *wife, *Randolph (all the way from San Antonio), *Danielle, *Lurker Bill from Olney, me, and PleaDealX.
Earlier in the week the Original DC Chapter Freeper, MrConfettiMan, passed away from a long battle with brain cancer. The DC Chapter would like to dedicate this Freep to him...and many more in the future.
It was cold...It was real cold...It was colder than a [SMACK! OUCH! ... Rubbing chin.] Okay, I'll start over. It was cold. It was colder than a ... Now hold on just a minute! Put your hand down. I was going to say, "colder than a" and then provide a link for illustration purposes. Okay? It was colder than this. BRRRRRR! Gotcha shivering good now, didn't I?
Actually, I didn't think it was too bad temperature wise. At least for the first hour-and-a-half. But after a while it starts to wear on ya. But you make do.
---------
A woman driving northbound on Georgia Ave past the gate and noticed us. She decided to turn around and see what we were up to. Her name is Stacey. Turns out her husband, stationed at Andrews AFB, is an Iraqi war veteran. Her and her husband's best friend is a patient at Walter Reed. She stayed and talked with us for quite a while and we found out she runs a website to help provide assistance to visiting families of Walter Reed and Bethesda patients to get reduced price accommodations, restaurant vouchers, and whatever else they can think of to make it easier on the families budgets. Stacey said her website will be down until sometime next week. But when it's back up please visit:
You never know. There might be something you can do to help out.
This is Randolph on the left. Randolph is from San Antonio. He isn't a registered Freeper yet. But I'm pretty sure he fully intends to. He just got in town. Arlington Va to be more precise. That's still a little bit of a drive or ride on the bus or subway to get to Walter Reed. He'll be here for about 6 months. Just got in town and straight away he made an effort to come out on a cold night and stand with us to support the troops.
God bless you, Randolph!
--------- We received the usual positive response from most all the passing pedestrians and cars. There was one negative drive-by, though. A guy in a GMC Yukon yelled as he sped by, "The war is a fake!" --------- Traffic was lighter than usual. A pretty uneventful night.
A few obligatory picks of the Code Pinkos forever relegated down the street.
FOR CRIMINY SAKES! WE FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE BUS RETURNING FROM DINNER!
Oh well, here's one from last week.
We'll be back out at Walter Reed Friday night, February 9th, from 6:30 until at least 9:30 at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW in Washington, D.C. If you can make it to at least the Takoma Metro Station we'll come pick you up.
We've heard many stories from family members, patient advocates, and from the troops themselves of how much they appreciate our support. It really means a lot to them to see ordinary John and Jane Q. Publics displaying appreciation for the service and sacrifice they've made on our behalf. (Add keeping the anti-war pinkos away from the gate.) I'm not telling you this for my benefit. I'm telling you this for yours. If you live in the local area, come out and tell 'em thanks. Do it for yourself. Do it for them.
If you can't get to D.C. but would like to do something for the wounded, contact by FReepmail Albion Wilde, Cindy-True-Supporter, VAFlagwaver or PleaDeal.
If you can't stand seeing anti-war, communist backed, 60's throwback hippies and self-absorbed, ungrateful Gen-X'ers defiling the memories of those who gave all in Vietnam - join us for the Counter ANSWER march on the Pentagon on March 17th! Just A Nobody will be keeping us abreast of all the latest details on this thread. Stay tuned!

Taint heard nuthin' yet.
Please post the Washington Post article when it comes out. I've been forced to actually open the Post everyday searching for the article. I dont think I can do it anymore.
Dress warm this Friday ladies and Gents. My wife and I wont be able to make it. She is starting EMT training and I have a function I must attend. I will be back on the 16th.
Three more months until I make it back to DC. As long as I can find a job, anyway...
Too bad you couldn't come down for this one! Maybe you can give some winterized wardrobe advice to these stalwart troops supporters :-) P.S. I left handwarmers with tgsltakoma when I was last down there; they're probably all gone by now, though. (note to self--handwarmers do NOT function well inside boots.)
Great, great job, BufordP! Love the sepia look of the photos! Thanks for your inimitable point of view!
Yeah, I'm a sucker. It was disgusting and horrible. You'd think looking at the Pinkos most weeks for two years would have prepared me for this level of stupid asinine America-hating, but you'd be wrong. Yeuckkkkk.....
Freepmail me to be added or deleted from this once-a-week ping list.
BTTT
God bless the DC Freepers bump!
"This war is a fake!"
Okay, that link was a huge waste of my time. I don't have the words to describe the idiocy of that video. It's just awful!!!
I am so sorry to read abut Freeper, MrConfettiMan!
Thank you for all that you do. I enjoy reading and seeing the pictures.
Thank all of you for being their for the troops one more time--even in the terribly cold weather. You all have my greatest respect.
This week's wonderful AAR was written by one of the most long-time and frequent-FReeper DC Chapter members, BufordP and what a great report! (I'm just the pingmeister this week.)
Then let me say thanks to Buford for the great write up!!
Thanks once again folks!
BTTT
BTTT!
Well done as usual DC Freepers. The sacrifices you make every week to support our troops and counter the pinkos is truly extraordinary. Sorry to hear about the loss of one of our finest in MrConfettiMan. May God rest his immortal soul; amen.
Thank you.
Thanks for the great report and photos -- and also for continuing to keep the link to all the after-action reports for Walter Reed.
Have you thawed out yet? FReep On!
May God watch over MrConfettiMan and his family. Prayers continue.
Bump!
