Associated Content ^ | February 16, 2007 | Jeff Musall

With the bare fact being that no Republican in recent memory has been able to win a major contest without at least the tacit backing of the religious right, Rudy Guliani might be trying to buck that trend.

"Proving, I think, that the evangelicals might be the single most immature voting block in the country."

Comments like this are not winning any friends for Rudy among the undecided Christian voters. The fact that many Christians vote their religious beliefs does not make them immature, it speaks of their character, something the Giuliani people don't even begin to understand. After all, what kind of character has he shown in his private life?

Its not just the evangelicals, but go ahead and think that.

My husband is not religious, nor does he care that much about the abortion issue, and if its Rudy he will NOT vote.

Im hearing it all over around here from NON evangelicals.

But not to worry, Rudy is splitting the far left too so youll have plenty of company in the booth for Rudy to save you from the beast.

Yes, you guys are immature.

Many social cons don't want the Republican judges, nor do they want the Congress back. They are more interested in displays of authenticity than policy results.

Threatening to vote 3rd party is like being a political suicide bomber, but the antics here have an added layer of irrationality, in that they damage goals of the bomber instead of the bombed.

..and just a reminder

Evangelicals are just a part of the Religious Right

Our conservative Roman Catholic and Jewish friends combined with us make up a pretty large bloc of voters.

"vigorously opposed Evangelicals"

I thought this little bit from the national review (provided by Delphinium) was pretty telling:

"New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City.

The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform".

If the best the GOP can muster is McCain, Romney, or Rudy, then it is already dead. A corpse can't commit suicide.

The Religious Right had better get right..and sit in the back seat and STFU!

Forget about a candidates personal view on abortion...as long as they will nominate judges to the SCOTUS like Thomas, Alito and Scalia.

What would one expect from a notorious adultery that is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual agenda?

It would be a sin for any Christian to vote for Giullani.

Speak for yourself. He has a vast number of supporters you are unaware of. Including the Religious Right.

Not like Rudy who says he favors judges like Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I don't see any evidence of him splitting the left. He might snag a few Clinton democrats but he isn't going to win anyway so it doesn't matter.

When democrats elect a real democrat instead of a democrat lite, Please complain by sending a self-abused stomped elephant.

I'm not part of the Religious Right. I prefer to call myself part of the Faithful Right. There is a difference.
