NASA's Cassini spacecraft has captured never-before-seen views of Saturn from perspectives high above and below the planet's rings. Over the last several months, the spacecraft has climbed to higher and higher inclinations, providing its cameras with glimpses of the planet and rings that have scientists gushing.
Lord save us from the Emoticons and their creators!

The Lord of the Rings...
What they should do is maneuver Cassini into the ring plane such that it will, over time, gravitationally attract material to it and create another Saturnian moon!
It's a fake. If you look closely you can see the wire suspending the model in front of the black velvet background... /grin
Nooooooo.. Ed Wood lives and works for
Nasa.. aaaiiieeeeee

"Call Me Joe" is just one of the things I've been thinking about.
Can you stand another dumb question? Why the black encircling band seemingly lying on the surface of the planet? What "shadow" is that?
Go here (http://www.nasa.gov/mpg/170640main_pia08356-movie.mpg) for an absolutely stunning video!

Opps! Try it again...

I've always felt that "Cassini Division" would make a great name for a band.

--Why do they call them "rings" when they don't even go ALL the way around the planet?--
That pic looks like a Cubs "C" logo with a baseball in the middle (maybe this is their year, a sign from the stars)!

Wow, fantastic, thanks! Loved the moon's motion.
Man do I feel dumb. This is the first I've heard of Cassini, a mission to Saturn, or a joint venture with NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency.
Thanks for the magnificent link!
Norm, I am a structural engineer and worked on the design of Cassini's propellant tanks in the 90's. My latest work on propulsion tanks on a mission that is currently operating is on the fuel tank of this beauty that takes my breath away: MRO
Breathtaking.
Thank you.
