The National Catholic Register is out with an editorial where they say the following: No deal Rudy. We cannot support you. Here's why:
"Rudy’s deal: He’ll promise not to push the pro-abortion agenda, and he’ll nominate judges in the mold of Samuel Alito and John Roberts. Pro-lifers in the Republican Party in return would support him, but keep insisting that the party stay pro-life, and fight our fiercest pro-life battles at the state level, where they belong.
We also see the downside of Rudy’s deal. If pro-lifers went along, we’d soon find out that a pro-abortion Republican president would no longer preside over a pro-life party. The power a president exerts over his party’s character is nearly absolute. The party is changed in his image. He picks those who run it and, both directly and indirectly, those who enter it.
Thus, the Republicans in the 1980s became Reaganites. The Democrats in the 1990s took on the pragmatic Clintonite mold. Bush’s GOP is no different, as Ross Douthat points out in “It’s His Party” in the March Atlantic Monthly.
A Republican Party led by a pro-abortion politician would become a pro-abortion party. Parents know that, when we make significant exceptions to significant rules, those exceptions themselves become iron-clad rules to our children. It’s the same in a political party. A Republican Party led by Rudy Giuliani would be a party of contempt for the pro-life position, which is to say, contempt for the fundamental right on which all others depend."

As a "Latin," my own "prudential judgment" is that if one's house is on fire, it is better to avoid burning down the firehouse.
If we elect a pro-abortion Republican to the presidency, I believe that the Republican Party will become a pro-abortion party. The cause of life may find itself in the political wilderness for some time to come.
"Should Guiliani get the nomination, the optimal outcome might well be for the pro-life movement to split, with enough voting for him that he wins (and telling exit-pollers that they held their nose to vote for him), and enough making the witness for life that it gets noticed."
If Mr. Giuliani gets the nomination, there is no question at all that many folks who self-identify as "pro-life" will vote for him. I would rather the alternative occur, that he would be defeated, so that it's clear that Republicans will lose if they nominate pro-deathers for the presidency.

Making a deal with Rudy to protect us from Hillary is a bit like making a deal with the devil.
Who will protect us from President Rudy when he comes for our guns and supports abortion and gays.
Rudy did clean up New york,but the methods he used were really close to the Constitutional and legal line. Will he step over as President?
Better than Hillary? Its like the devil or the deep blue sea. Most anything is better than Hillary,but we have more choices right now,and I will leave them open.

Political analyst Charles Cook told Newsday that the latest twist (when his son went public about problems caused by Rudy's third wife) would hurt Giuliani with the GOP's conservative voters. "This is just going to be one of a thousand cuts," Cook told the newspaper. "This will just sort of fit into a whole constellation of issues that work against someone winning a conservative party's nomination, a party that thinks of itself as a pro-family party. This just makes it really hard."
One news report poll indicated 88% of those polled had a problem with a father not attending his son's graduation.
This is newsworthy only b/c Mayor Rudeo is being packaged for public consumption as St Rudy. When facts emerge that don't fit the image being spun, it becomes a major story.
That's not the voters' problem. It's Rudeo's problem. He should have thought of the consequences when he made these life decisions.

Rudy also lost the CPAC straw poll, and lost the all-important conservative SC straw poll.
They tried the left-swing foolishness last year, and got the Nov 2006 debacle for their troubles. RNC Kenny was shown the door---and surprise---mow he's flacking Rudy.
It's all part of The Plan by the power-hungry Everything-For-Us-Nothing-For-Conservatives types to ditch social conservatves off the Repub party flotilla.

And the thousand cuts don't even have to open up into his personal relationship with his son. He can explain his membership to Stonewall. That is a major cut right there. That really has to be the only cut. But the media and political analysts will want blood. That will mean his family. Or step aside and leave his family business out of the spotlight.
I wonder who could do some research and see if Ken Mehlman has been active in any pro-homosexual political groups? Is that his real hidden agenda? Just curious.
Yep. And their supposed "big tent" will be flat on the ground. Whoops.
Actually, it makes sense. If we keep dumbing down the GOP, the conservative movement will eventually eliminated. Is that the real goal?

If we let Hillary or Gore pick the SCOTUS choices for the next 8 years, the social conservative movement will eventually eliminated for our lifetimes.

One notorious incident erupted----Kenny leaked (gave) Log Cabin Republicans top secret White House political strategy info. Mehlman offered to resign over the incident--but the WH refused the offer.
Michael Rogers of blogACTIVE.com said Ken Mehlman belonged to Log Cabin Republicans.
Rudy Giuliani is a Log Cabin Republican and Ken is working with his campaign.
I think it is a fair assumption that he [Ken] is LCR.
1. Selective cut and pasting.
2. Failure to address any opinions mentioned in the post.
