The epithet, the slur, was common.
When I answered yes several times I was immediately asked if I supported killing people. Another yes brought gasps and clucking. The naivete is terminal. They won't ever understand that war is all about breaking things and killing the enemy.

I counted two American flags in that whole crowd there, but a million yellow signs (how appropriate)--if the rest of the crowd was like that, how can they truly call themselves Americans and troop-supporters?? :-(
I'm guessing the few other American flags there were being flown upside down in protest. Feh. >:-(

How will they feel when the enemy is at the door??? Will they invite them in for tea and biscuits while their heads are being cut off???
I just don't get these people. I really don't. Even my 6 year old says, "Mom, if the troops don't kill the bad guys they will get us here all over America!" How hard is that to figure out?

I've heard men of my generation question why the Vietnam vets have not come into the American Legion and the VFW--and now I can understand why.
My biggest disappointment over my car being frozen over and not being able to meet the bus full of veterans which I was honored to join, was missing out on exactly what you have described. Thank you for your post.
