This is a great April fools joke, and seriously had me asking myself for about five minutes how that is remotely possible.

It's amazing what people will fall for... Many years ago in a netnews hardware forum, someone brought up a question on how to clean a motherboard. Well, SOMEBODY mentioned using their dishwasher, and so a number of us (probably 15 or 20) got into all sorts of discussions about the best detergent to use, should we use a drying agent, should we use the "pot-scrubber" cycle, etc, and finally, should this be done as routine maintenance? We all thought it was a hoot! Well, you guessed it, somebody ACTUALLY tried to clean their motherboard in their dishwasher!

But will it work with septic systems?

This was seriously proposed during the dot-com boom when fiber rights-of-way were hard to come by in some places.......

CityNet signs last-mile fiber optic agreement in Austria
4/30/2001 SILVER SPRING, Md. -- CityNet Telecommunications Inc., the leader in last-mile broadband infrastructure, today announced that it has signed a landmark license and access agreement with the City of Vienna, Austria, permitting the company to use Vienna's sewer system to build last-mile fiber optic networks.
Granted, this stock appropriately ended up in the crapper.

BRILLIANT! I can't believe that no one else has thought of this before!

Thanks, just sent this to my girlfriend (who I'm moving in with next month) with "Can we get this?" in the subject line, and recommended it to my mother, who is considering broadband. I wonder if they'll realize it was a joke before they call me??!!!

This will be fine, until people start trying to send 4" data through 3" portals.
Guess when I build the new house, I better install 6" sewer pipes, and extra-large bore toilets.
Maybe get an auxilliary system, via the roof vent, for the widow's walk sun deck.
