Why is Iran announcing the release of the British soldiers ?
Why now ?
Last Sunday, Iran told the AEIA that it would not let the UN inspector see some parts of the iranian nuke programs. Yesterday, the AEIA claimed that Iran had multiplied its current capability by 3 since the hostage crisis began.
Iran tried to take US hostages on January 20, 2007 in Kerbala, Iraq. The mission failed, and the Revolution Guards slaughtered 5 GI'S.
Iran hoped to make pressure on America, and is still hoping that America won't bomb the country when Iran will expell the UN inspectors from the country.
The visit of the House speaker Pelosi to Syria, close ally to Iran, gave the mullahs the impression their strategy had worked.
That's why they will release the Britons hostages today.
The Axis of Evil thinks America is weak and not prepared to fight even if one her ally is in difficulty.
Because of Pelosi, Iran is more optimistic and is about to lauch a big - BIG - war this Summer, against Israel using Hezbollah and Syria and against the USA in Iraq by sending new iranian troops in Iraq.
Brothers, for Iranians, Pelosi's visit means America surrenders.
We have been divided since the moonbats started taking over the Democrat party during Vietnam. That is why it is VITAL that a Democrat NOT occupy the White House for the forseeable future. We don't need those folks making the ultimate decisions on our country's future.
They look like they’re back from Spring Break. Their readiness to submit to bogus, televised confessions, plus their unwillingness to defend themselves, greatly reduces my estimation of the British military. Allowing their own capture without a fight is a black eye that won’t go away soon.
The way things are going I think there will be all out war by then. Either someone attacks Iran over the nukes, the US or Israel,or they get Nukes and all bets are off!
I went to one of the news articles from there and the responses about what the Iranians did was mind blowing. Everything the West does is evil and Bush should not even be alive to those people. Well push is going to go shove when the Iranians have Nukes and are these same people going to just let them nuke Israel? If they are holding everyone hostage because of oil now, what are they going to do when they have Nukes? Hey maybe we all better be learning Arabic.
Yep.
Well be long gone by then - but she can still claim it as part of her legacy.
That’s exactly what happened. If you remember we read that Assad said that the Republicans that visited prior to Pelosi didn’t offer anything different than the Bush administration, that the Republicans still didn’t get the point that Israel was the root cause of the problems in the Middle East.
So what did Pelosi say that was different, that Israel should cease to exist?
And as far as other concerns: Iraq (which is NOT lost), China, North Korea, Venezuela, contaminated wheat gluten in the US, oil, weather, crime, budget, and for all I know an asteroid heading for us.
“You have NO idea what threats were used to make Iran suddenly nice-nice.”
Likewise, you have no idea that any threats were made period, except for in your imagination.
“Nice-nice”...oh yeah forcing confessions, illegally abducting, military personnel humiliated on international TV...Iditotrod mocking the UK and the US...yep we really showed the Iranians. Again, if there is not a punishing response to these illegal provocations (once the 15 are safe) it is a total humiliation and PR victory in the short term, and an invitation to take more hostages in the future.
Don't you think it interesting that all of a sudden, after all of this beligerence, the Iranians suddenly "pardon" the hostages as a "gift" to the people of Britain, and they are sent home? No apologies or any other action is required from the British.
Something happened. What, I don't know.
But I am dead certain that YOU don't know either. And I also am sick of all of this "if we don't bomb them we are weak" junk. Once they were taken there was no way to get them back without some sort of a perceived PR coup for the Iranians. Either the Iranians were going to be the victors or they were going to be the victims. This result is probably about the best that can be hoped for.

Carriers. More than enough to make lil stinky into ashes.

Your statement is a rationale for appeasement and defeatism. You are saying that we can do nothing so let’s just sit and be outmaneuvered by the Iranian islamonuts once again.
First of all, it was BRITAIN who was negotiating, not the US.
Second, President Bush (and PM Blair) follow an intelligent strategy which includes choosing your battles.
Right now Congress has held up funding for our military. It would be the height of irresponsibility for the US to bomb Iran (or some other drastic action) while one of our best allies is in negotiations.
“it was BRITAIN who was negotiating, not the US.’
Duh, glad to see you’re on the same page as everybody.
“Right now Congress has held up funding for our military.”
Umm no. The House and Senate have passed emergency supplementals which will be vetoed. There is no cutting of funds.
“It would be the height of irresponsibility for the US to bomb Iran (with UK troops as hostages)”
Excellent point, except that I made the same implied statement by noting that a military response should be taken after the hostages are safely back home.
.
Don’t forget that lil stinky isn’t in charge. The mullahs are. He’s their creature and they make the decisions, not him.
