For some reason you just can’t stand it when he’s in the lead.

Some reason? The reasons have been clearly articulated time and time again. Rudy will not be able to hold the party together, and he has far too many positions that are more in line with the Dem platform than the GOP platform - plus, he is an authoritarian who shows no sign of comprehending enumerated and limited executive powers.

All three combined makes him the worst possible GOP nominee.

The funny thing is that the Rudy Rooters are afraid to answer it. It’s not exactly a trick question.

I didn't say it was astounding. You have. Please refrain from trying to spin your view into what I say here. Fact is 2-3% is quite a change in any poll. Rudy has not increased his hold, only the others have dropped from sight. FDT while not even IN the race, and he will get in, has influenced a lot of the undecideds to wait and see. And his popularity is growing.

Now, if you watched the Cavuto interview, which it appears you haven't, Fred made his case for announcing his cancer issue as one of the 'boxes to check off' before he decides to run.

He is getting out any of the information that may or may not hurt his chances and will gauge the response. What you Rudyphiles are doing is running scared because Thompson is not a pretend conservative as Rudy has tried to present himself, Thompson is a conservative, socially and fiscally.

And I see you have taken the time to ignore the core reasons a lot of social conservatives are not in any mood to support Rudy.

Although I like Rudy, he does not currently have my clear support. The abortion issue is difficult for anyone trying to be a centrist. However, the general population clearly opposes late-term abortions and federal funding for abortions. Unless Rudy “grows” out of these positions (as GWHB did), he is fatally wounded.

I thought GWB had the best response on the abortion issue in the 2000 campaign. It was well know that he is strongly pro-life, but he said he would focus his efforts on changing the hearts of the pro-choice crowd.

That should be our #1 priority, along with making adoption easier and more common. Roe v. Wade needs to be overturned for obvious constitutional reasons, but at this point in time, I expect that 90+% of states will allow some legal abortions. Again, our efforts should be to change hearts and minds.

"That tired old scare tactic of vote rino or you get a rat is not working with many anymore.

A vote going to a 'conservative' 3rd party helps the DEMS win... just like a vote going to a 'green party' candidate would help the Republicans win... Can you argue with that? Or do you REALLY think a third party candidate can win?

If you consider facts 'scare tactics', that's your problem.

eventually it becomes a matter of conscience. How much compromise should be acceptable in our lives?

by voting for them anyways, we send a message that we approve of their behavior. By voting 3rd party, even if we lose this one, we tell the future candidates that to get our votes, they have to stand on issues we believe in and to act accordingly.

since it is doubtful Fred will run after his announcement yesterday.

Thompson made the announcement yesterday BECAUSE he is going to run and wanted to get it out to the public now. From what I heard him say yesterday, the only way he won't run is if the public's response to the news is that they don't want him.

John McCain, the Arizona senator who tumbled to third place over Iraq.

Iraq? Is that what the author thinks?

"we tell the future candidates that to get our votes..."

Not the time or place... you have plenty of time to make a statement and display 'conviction' during the primaries.

3rd party votes are about as successful for 'making a statement' as a write in vote.

Nobody could think that a write in vote is recognized or considered at all.

But everyone has to do what they think is right... or makes them feel important.

Obviously Rudy is doing fine, in spite of the abortion issue. Your post makes no sense.

Sorry, wrong. Rudy is down about 10% from his high-water mark in February. He'll continue to trend down as more and more people find out what a liberal fraud he is.

Excellent. Just look at the retardees who do not get irony unless it is spelled out for them in at least 36 points font. Congrats.
