Jon Corzine suffered injuries serious enough to land him in intensive care with a breathing tube down his throat and a doctor declaring him lucky to be alive.The 60-year-old governor underwent about two hours of surgery last night to repair multiple broken bones, including 12 ribs and a femur that protruded through the skin of his thigh following a car accident on the Garden State Parkway in Galloway Township.
With two of his adult children by his beside, Corzine, sedated and on intravenous painkillers, remains in intensive care in Cooper University Hospital in Camden this morning. He required seven pints of blood, officials said, and is using a breathing tube to ease his respiration with the broken ribs, and a broken breastbone.
The governor also suffered a broken collarbone and lower back bone and a flap-like cut on his skull, which was a plastic surgeon stitched back together.
Corzine spokesman Anthony Coley said the governor did not appear to have suffered brain or spinal cord damage.

NO....and it makes one wonder why not, other than he never does......what were he and the lady (and I use that term lightly) doing in the back seat without their seatbelts???
We’ve had two “death by cop “ driving accidents in South Jersey in the last six months . One state trooper ran a stop sign at night , no lights, sirens, etc. and killed two girls. The other local cop blew through an intersection at 90 mph and killed an 80 year old man whose son was a cop in the same town .
It is being reported this morning that he was not wearing a seatbelt but thats from MSNBC, so its still shaky information.
The accident becomes a bit of a Karl Rove-episode. The red truck that caused that accident....left and hasn’t been seen...no tag number either. The other passengers in the governor’s vehicle...barely injured (guessing they both had seat belts on). Their destination...on the way to supervise the Imus and Rudgers basketball squad “discussion”. The whole thing smells fishy and has to be the work of type of conspiracy....because he is a democrat...you know.

I’m not a Dr. but do bones carry blood? I thought that was the job of arteries and veins.

Yeah, - I think the odds are quite high. Well, we should know pretty soon - there must of been massive damage to the car - actually it is surprising s/he could leave the scene, and it being the governor, I expect they'll catch the responsible person soon.

While I feel bad that Mr. Corzine suffered this tragic event, there is a silver lining in every cloud. He is now closer to the money and his constituency.
I suspect if he WAS wearing a seat belt, that it would immediately be reported.

the news says he was not wearing a seat belt - this sounds like a horrible accident for him.....it’s terrible and a lesson to all about seat belts...he prob was in the back of what looks like a Govt SUV and he prob was ‘working’ and not wearing a seatbelt...it’s pretty shocking how he almost got killed ....and talk about ‘karma’ - he was on his way to the Imus/Rutger’s bball team talks - as if this story couldn’t get worse
I heard he was on his way to Rutgers to participate in Imus’ apology to the Rutgers women’s basketball team.
Someone needs to give him a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.
It’s being reported that he was rushing to his mansion so he could be in on the Imus/Rutgers girls flap. I hope this isn’t true because it will prove to me once again that Corzine is not at all serious about NJ’s major problems.
We recently had a situation where a cop blew a red light and caused a series accident. He blamed the driver of the other car, who was illegal and did not speak English, and gave her several tickets thinking there were no independent witnesses to dispute his version of events, which occurred in the early morning hours. Little did he know that my friend, who is a late night techie, had stepped outside his office for a smoke and witnessed the whole thing.
Maybe if/when there is real immigration reform you find out.
BTW, I live in Thailand. If I was caught without a valid visa my ass would be in jail until I could pay a fine, then either apply for and be granted a visa (unlikely) or if I could not get one buy a plane ticket out of the country, and then the police would escort me to the airport. If I couldn't afford the ticket out, I would probably die in jail here.
Burmese and Cambodians flock here to work. If they are caught, employers are fined and the workers are dumped at the border and have to find their own way home.
I don't have a lot of sympathy for illegals in the US and other western countries. They should apply to come legally.
