Le Pen is a part of the past. He underwent a huge physical and PR makeover 20 years ago, but he is still saddled with his anti-semitic racist past. He is 78 years old and his time has come and gone.

Sarko is young, dynamic, and fully aware of the reality of the world we live in today. He is the smartest of the lot by a longshot, and has the strength of character that the others don’t have.

Le Pen’s time has come and gone. He is right on certain immigration issues, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

For Sarko to win the election battle with Royal would signal a clearcut break with the past, and frankly, the death of the power of the Left in France, which has been dying for years. A win over Le Pen would not have the same impact.

The ideology of Le Pen offers no solution for the problems of a modern day democracy like France.

Very possible a ploy. The existence of the report has been confirmed, but I think the Socialists,in total panic mode, leaked it.

I think this very “fishy” translation confirms that the report does, indeed, exist.

I don’t think the article’s conclusion is correct. It might just backfire. I think it was leaked by Royal’s camp to try and recapture the hard core left that is against her. Even if she captured every single vote of the non-PS left, she still wouldn’t have enough to win in a run-off.

I will be posting the latest polls later today.

Since French Election Law ....see what its like when the government controls everything :+} The law prohibits polling a certain number of days before the vote. So Tuesday or Wednesday will be the end of the published polls.

Unfortunately, scum like Le Pen still dominates the nationalists in France. Le Pen sells them out to Muslims but he is inconsistant and the left scream about him, so the uneducated think he is a nationalist, not a Quisling.

Sounds like disinformation to discredit Sarkozy.

For my part, I am comfortable with that. Under current circumstances, Sarkozy is the best choice. But if Sarkozy were like Chirac or, really, any of the other UMP fellows, I’d vote for Le Pen myself. It is time. =========== You're probably correct. Sarkozy I think would mellow if elected. It's easy to be a critic from the outside. Once elected he might be more pragmatic. LePen on the otherhand isn't leaving any doubt about where he stands on law and order. I think it's time for drastic and rebellious change in France. Politics as usual will be the end of France as we know it.

That was an amusing translation, regardless. :’)

C, you may be onto something there.

Why haven't I heard before that Sego (is that some kind of diet food?) Royal is an Afro-frog? Much the same as Teressa Heinz Kerry is an Afro-'merican.

"“Our family life was not always joyous,” said Royal, who was born in Senegal, where her father was posted, and spent the first few years of her life in Martinique,"
