Tributes to Kayak; She has lost Her Battle to Cancer [#238]
April 16, 2007 | Jemian

Posted on 04/16/2007 2:48:18 PM PDT by Jemian

Kayak has been a long-time freeper, appearing on many threads, but most especially America ~ the Right Way! She is a stanch conservative, a good friend, and most especially a dear sister in Christ. In December 2006, she was diagnosed with lung cancer which was soon found to be metastasized to the brain and throughout her body.

Her daughter, registered as Poppyseed, has been giving us updates when Kayak had to stop posting. This is the update posted most recently.

So much has happened since my last message to you all. My whole family came down this past weekend, and my brother came as well. The difference between Mama the weekend before and then this weekend was like night and day. By this past weekend, she had begun letting go, and was more or less staying in bed, much, much weaker and frailer than the weekend before, when she was weak but present.

I stayed on after the weekend to be with Daddy and help out around the house, and to sit vigil by Mama. She was quiet, but sometimes responsive, and eating. This morning, though, her breathing changed, and she is in a near-comatose state and not really responsive at all. The Hospice nurse who came to see her this afternoon said that she is actively dying, and said that anytime in the next 24 hours, to the next two or three days, we can expect her to let go.

Yesterday, Daddy was hugging her, just loving on her the way he does, and she said, “You just won’t let me go, will you?” And he told her that absolutely he will let her go, and that anytime she’s ready to let go, she should.

I also told her that when she’s ready, she should go. I told her that we will take care of each other, and God will take care of us. “Are you ready to go?” I asked. “Go where?” she said. “Home,” I said. “Yes,” she said.

And after that business was taken care of, she began the process of letting go. She’s ready, and we’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

Please pray for her swift and peaceful passing into the next phase of life, and keep the rest of us in your prayers. We alternate - well, I alternate - between numb and inconsolable. It doesn’t even seem real right now. I’m sure it’ll hit me hard, harder, hardest later on.

She doesn’t seem to recognize us any more, so I won’t be passing on any messages to her. She seems to have heard all she needs to from those of us here in this world. She’s got her feet in two worlds, but she’s mostly elsewhere now.

I’m trying to keep myself busy, so I doubt I’ll be able to return individual responses to anyone anytime soon - apologies for that in advance. Thank you all for your love and your prayers. Take care, and I’ll let you know when she dies.

Love to all of you.

It was felt that y'all could post your tributes and thoughts to her here and perhaps it could be included in her memorial service when the time comes.

God will joyously welcome one of His own. May Kay’s journey home be peaceful, and may her family find comfort in knowing that she was w/them for a little while and left them w/loving memories.

This is the love of God - that a woman named Kay was sent into the world; that she lived with us, and loved us, and showed us the joy of Kay.

Thank you God, that you gave Kay to us. Thank you, Kay, that you gave love to your husband and life to your children; and thank you, Poppyseed, for sharing your mother’s bravery with us.

This is the way of God - that Love comes into the world in the shape of the people around us, and flies back Home on the wings of Angels...

We will miss you, Kay - that is why those who love you will follow you to the ends of the earth and all the way to Heaven’s gate. Do not be afraid of the journey home, for God goes with you, Kay.

If something so beatiful as you could come from where you go, then where you are going is beautiful indeed!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotton Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting Life. John 3:16

Although our hearts are breaking, we rejoice in the promise of our Risen Saviour and find our salvation in Him.

Although our tears are flowing we find comfort in the mercy of God our Father and his Everlasting Love.

God bless you all. You will be greatly missed Kay.

O Lord,

I pray through tears as I share my request that You make Kay's transition one of glorious peace and joy as she enters the presence of her Savior. May she hear the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," and may they be more beautiful to her ears than any sound she has ever heard. Even now, Lord, may You comfort her family with the blessed assurance that she can be in no better place than that where You will keep her until they can once again be reunited. So many of us love her, Lord, and ask that You would share with her our thanks for her friendship in words that we can no longer express to her. We know You will pass on our message of gratitude. In the Name of Jesus Christ, we commit this beautiful servant to You. Amen.

All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
-John 6:37

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
-John 5:24

I will lift up my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalm 121)

Dearest, sweetest friend, Kay.....

You will soon see our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ face to face, and what a joy that will be for you.

There is no way to express what you have meant to me, even though we have never seen each other. The peace I have is in knowing.............not just thinking, or believing, but in KNOWING, that we shall meet some day.

I will be praying for a release from disease and pain, and for peace for your beloved family whom you have dedicated so much of your life to.

Thank you for your wisdom and your calm as we fought side by side on this forum for the truth.

I shall never forget your warm welcome to me here, and the love and support you showed time after time, year after year.

"For me to live is Christ, to die is gain." .....Philippians 1:21

You will be missed, dear Kay. I love you!
