mom4kittys called Natures Logic and got some free samples for her cats — last I heard they liked the food and it is grain-free...

Thank you! I’m starting to wonder IF there’s anything that’s actually safe.

I’m going to look into that brand, thank you. No more kibbles for the kitties, I guess. :(

WHY would we buy food of all things, for dogs and cats, from a country which hates us and eats pets?

Beats me.... and Blue Buffalo (which is regualarly on The Whole Dog Journals Top Ten Foods list) claimed this was the first time they purchased from this source (cost cutting — eh???)

We didn't choose to buy pet food from China, it was the huge food conglomerate that saw a bargain.

There are brands of pet food that are produced right here. They probably cost more, but one can buy it.

The food doesn’t actually come from China, the pet food that is. An ingredient in the dog food (wheat gluten in the first recall, and rice protein in the second recall) are just one product that is used in the manufacture of the food.

Check your local grocer next time and see where the shrimp in the grocery store comes from...China or Thailand, most likely. How much Chinese produced wheat gluten or rice protein has made it into the human food in this country...that’s the question we should probably be asking.

We spent a couple months in China a few years ago. They don’t necessarily “hate” pets, they just eat them. We saw cats, and dogs, slaughtered in the local food market.

Ok time to worry. Science Diet c/d has corn gluten which of course was “ok” last week.

Science Diet contains BHA, BTH and Ethioxin.... so even if the ingredients are okay they are using preservatives that are poison.

Thank you, it’s really infuriating to me that we have to deal with these lousy criminals who would even think to do this for their own profit.

My cats like Pet Guard foods. Wild Oats sells Pet Guard where I live.

From their website: “PetGuard Natural and USDA certified Organic products are NOT affected by the recall. PetGuard does NOT use wheat gluten or source ingredients from China. The ORGANIC Rice Protein Concentrate used in PetGuard products IS NOT sourced from WILBUR-ELLIS. All PetGuard products are safe for your pet(s) to enjoy.”

Diamond foods makes dog food for Costco.

“Diamond does indeed manufacturer pet foods for Kirkland and company officials readily conveyed that information when asked.”

One week later:
http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/diamond-dog-food

This is what my son was feeding his dog, dog wasn’t eating good, so he put him on Alpo, dog got sick, went to vets, in there for two days and then dies.
Then Alpo recalled.

This all happened one week after my dog died.
