Who dares compare Rudy Giuliani to Ronald Reagan?
(from a thread) | Many thanks to mkjessup

Posted on 04/23/2007 10:30:14 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide. My Administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land, and there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning."
-- President Ronald Reagan, 1983

"If you agree with the church, there’s no difference between murdering a one-year-old and eliminating a fetus – it’s the same act. There is a moral consequence to the elimination of a fetus, but it’s not the same thing as murder.”
-- Rudy Giuliani, 1987

>> The LAST thing we want is a liberal republican in the White House. Hilary would be better, since there would be an opposition to her...

You needn't apologize for the point. Strategically, there is much truth to it. Makes no difference whether it's Hillary, Obama or Edwards. Any Democrat in office will be expected to take a big government view. Nobody is trying to fool you, nobody is fooled. As you say, that will be met by Republican opposition.

A RINO is likely to do FAR more damage in office by flying under false colors. He will get credit from the public for having Republican values and Republican thrift. But he will act as a stealth, big government Democrat. He will have bipartisan support in Congress and will be able to push through much more government expansion and higher taxes.

Draw your own conclusions

I know I've drawn my own conclusions about Rudy based on his own words, but I've been reminded by Hildy, and another FReeper through FReepmail, that since I live way up here in Alaska, I can't possibly know what I'm talking about. Apparently Rudy's stand on social issues take on a whole new meaning when served with NY style koolaid. I'd say more, but I'm facing a hugh and series situation right now. My igloo is melting due to global warming and this computer I built out of ice and snow is evaporating into cyberspace.

“Does Rudy measure up to Bill and Hilary would be a more reasonable question. The answer... Too close to call.”

If you took all 3, removed their names and shook them up in a box and opened it. I’d dare say you couldn’t see the difference.

You sure are going to be depressed for four to eight years. I hope you guys have psychiatrists up there in Alaska.

You’re insane. And what about our troops...and what about Supreme Court Nominees. Rudy has said he would appoint judges like Alito and Roberts. If you think there’s no difference, you truly are mistaken. Please don’t argue.

Yeah, Giuliani made it sound as if Reagan is his hero. Giiuliani is a liar.

Oh no, Hildy, we don't have psychiatrists up here. If someone gets depressed, we just shove 'em in a glacier until they chill out.

Killing a one year old and killing a fetus is the same. It is murder. Reagan was a Conservative & Reoublican. Giuliani is a Liberal & Republican. Monster big difference.

What about our troops?

Want to honor the troops and their sacrifice? Close down those borders Mr Guiliani. Ooops.. sorry, he’s pro illegal he can’t do that.

What bout judges? His record on that show the judges he would appoint are closer to Ruth Bader than Roberts.

The fact of the matter is, Rudy is a NY Liberal, has always been a NY Liberal, will always BE a NY Liberal.

HE SAID SPECIFICALLY Roberts and Alito. And I believe him. Governing a city like New York is different than governing the country. He has been a fierce supporter of President Bush’s stand on the WOT. So you saying he and Hillary are alike is just plain wrong and intellectually lazy.

The question is, who is more liberal: James Webb or Rudy Giuliani.

The question is irrelevant. Webb is not running for President.

His wiveS believed him when he VOWED to love, honor, cherish and be faithful only to them, too. Wonder how that’s working out for them.

Your comment in response to mine made no sense. Nice to see that if nothing else, you’re consistent.

Sort of.... but Mini-Me is a little bigger.

The fact that you’re still on this is what’s insane. I’ll state again...your original thesis that liberals loved Guiliani in NY is just wrong....it’s not even debatable...But, as always, you want to keep this on a personal level. It’s the only way you people can fight. It’s really pathetic.
