I've read the Book of Mormon. It was obvious to me that it was written by one person in one voice. It is not a book that varies in the styles of its supposedly mutiple authors at all.

Cult. Of course, Jews have descent case to make that Christianity is a cult based on Judaism, too. Good article, btw - fair and balanced.

You are not allowed to call them Anti-Christian. That is hate speech.

But, however, THEY ARE allowed to call you anti-Mormon, often and with impunity.

It is liberalism at its best.

Can’t say I disagree with the writer although now I’ll be branded a Mormon hater.

PBS TV just ran a two part show on the Mormons. I saw part one and taped part two for later viewing. The early years under Smith and Young had some fringe beliefs and doings, but it seems that the church has moved towards mainstream Christian beliefs in the twentieth century and now.

Mormons as a group are good people and value family, honesty, self-sufficiency and good works. They pay their taxes and follow the civil laws, so the details of their religion shouldn’t be a bar to running for office.

I really don’t care what people call themselves, as long as they are good people.

Are conservative Americans so numerous that we can afford to push away groups that share conservative values because they call themselves one thing, whilst we wish to call them another?

I hope not.

“If Mormonism can no longer be called a cult of Christianity, then neither can the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the United Pentecostal Church, or the Unification Church (to name but a few).”

How about Unitarians? You can’t get much worse than that equivocal “church”.

As it is, maybe Mormonism is a little odd, and isn’t quite right as far as Christianity. But at base they’re decent people who haven’t really done anything bad to anyone (beyond theology; bear with me here). I have really liked the few Mormons I’ve known.

I have no problem voting for Romney as a Mormon.

Now, Moslems, that’s something altogether different!

It is the official doctrine of the LCMS that Mormonism is not a Christian faith. You can be friends with them and do business with them, but you can’t go pray at their places of worship. So far as I know the LCMS says nothing at all about voting for them.

Mormonism is not Christian, from its birth it has been anti-Christian.

Sums it up.

Psalm 14:2-3 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

OK, but Christianity doesn't reject any of the central tenets of Judiasm. It builds on them instead. Christianity was founded by Jews. By his own account, Joe Smith wasn't a Christian.

Its sad to attack the man’s religion, when you can attack his political stances, and the flips and flops, so easily.

Why ‘go there’? Its simply not necessary.

And that, my friends, is the worst sort of blasphemy.

Mormons have a problem with the Book of Mormon, which they claim is the most perfect book ever written. Have not heard a good explanation why the most perfect book ever written has had over 3000+ substantive changes over almost two centuries and the Bible has had none.

Mormonism is clearly a cult.

They also have a problem by claiming to now be “Christian” like orthodox Christian denominations, which they have always said were apostate. If the Mormon church is now trying to be accepted within evangelical Christianity, has the Mormon church become apostate? I know some serious Mormons who question the LDS church in this regard.
