The Hotline has published the results of a new Myers Research and Strategic Services poll, conducted on behalf of the Nebraska Democratic Party, that shows only 42% of voters approve of Sen. Chuck Hagel's job performance, while 50% disapprove. Meanwhile, 40% approve of Attorney General Jon Bruning's job performance, and 37% disapprove.

The most surprising result is that Hagel's disapproval rating is highest among independents at 58%. Among Democrats, 53% approve of his job performance and 42%, while among Republicans, 36% approve and 47% disapprove.

This is good news. But I wish that someone other than Jon Bruning were challenging Hagel in the GOP primary.

I love good news in the morning, this has made my day.

If Hagel does run for reelection I'm sure Joe Bruning could use some help in his campaign against him.

Nobody is agitating for a recall election yet, are they?

Only 47% of republicans disapprove? What about conservatives?

"conducted on behalf of the Nebraska Democratic Party"

Are they checking to see how their boy is doing?

In other words, the Democrats love him. But the people who elected him hate his guts.

What ticket is Hegel planning to run on?

So does Hagel. If more than one serious Republican challenges him, he'll almost assuredly win the nomination with a plurality of the vote.

Looks like Hagel can wind up being Bloomberg’s running mate on the Independent ‘Let’s Elect Hillary’ ticker.

For the record, 100% of this Nebraska conservative disapproves of Hagel.

When was the last time a sitting Republican US Senator lost a primary? Got to be a little out of touch me thinks.

Bob Smith 2002 lost his seat to Sununu Jr..

Before that it was Shelia Fraum (sp?) of Kansas losing to Sam Brownback in the nineties (1996?).

before that Al D'Mato beat Jacob Javits in 1980. There might have been a few more in 1980

Perhaps because there is no thing at the federal level? Perhaps Nebraskans know that. It's too bad there isn't, a good chunk of them wouldn't make it through their first term. Maybe second term for Representatives.

This survey is being done on behalf of the Demoncratic party so they can figure out if they can sneak another of their candidates into office. Nebraska has a long history of two strong Republicans battling it out in the primary. The losing one refuses to close ranks after the primary and either throws his support to the Demoncrat or recommends his supporters to stay home or write in his name.

In either case, the Demoncrat slips in with about 40% of the vote. I have seen it happen over and over. I believe it will happen with Hagel if he loses the primary.

Will be interesting if Hagel even runs for reelection. He was sighted recently with Bloomburg; whom many think might also run. Hagel has zero chance at the GOP nod, but more than a few wealthy folks like Bloomburg might help back an indy run. If thinks he is toast in Nebraska he might try and go out by burning down any chance the GOP has at the white house.

Hmmmm. I feel a ‘Daschle in 04’ moment approaching for this knucklehead, Chuck Hagel.

Hagel deserves to be Daschled. Hagel is another one whose vicious mouth shows wht a truly vile human he is. He reminds me of a picture of an evil character I saw in a kid’s book many years ago. Every time he opens his mouth, snakes, frogs and ugly slimey things spew out.
