We're not playing girls, say imams

MUSLIM and Christian leaders in Oslo scrapped a soccer match meant to foster understanding between religions today after the imams refused to play a team that included women priests.

The imams said physical contact with women would be inappropriate, NRK public television said, and the Norwegian Christians refused a proposal of a male-only clash.

The match was to have followed talks meant to build bridges between faiths in Norway.

"Some say that bodily contact is the problem. It leads to special feelings that can lead to something forbidden," imam Senaid Kobilica told NRK public television in explanation.

A woman priest from Norway's Lutheran state church, who was part of the Christian team, said that barring women from the pitch would be discrimination.

...

Her objection prompted the Christian captain to cancel the match.

"There are both men and women priests in Oslo, and you can't have a dialogue in which everyone can take part and then have a game where only men are allowed," Trond Bakkevig said.

Actually, it seems like the kind of thing a smart person would do on purpose.

I understand where you’re coming from on this, but I think that this wasn’t supposed to be some hard-fought match, nor was it meant to be meaningful outside of their aims of “cooperation”. I think it would have been more recreational than anything, and so I don’t think it would have been inappropriate.

But then, that’s all just guesswork on my part. :)

Forget about whether this is right or wrong for a minute. Don’t you think that whomever organized this game might have foreseen this coming?

Yes.

The things that could be avoided with just a little thinking.

Yeah. But, maybe the point was not to avoid it.

To force them to show what intolerant, 4th century jackasses they are....to publicly humiliate them.

Like I asked Psycho_Bunny...to what point?
Did we need another example of Islamic sexual discrimination? Do you think that NOW is all of a sudden going to condemn Islam at this point?

I just don’t see the reason to do this intentionally.

So you expect the men in modern western society to tell their women to go put on house coats and stay out of the way while the men deal with the Muslims. And, all these women are going to comply? The western women are demanding to be treated as men. The Muslims are saying no. you think the white guy should come up with some clever trick to avoid the dilemma? Pray, do tell me what it is.

How about offering to play them football. We'll kick, they can receive...

What I mean is, what’s the point of proposing a game where you would have a mixed team, knowing that the other side would object?

I’m not saying that it’s right for the muslims to be sexist—what I’m asking is, why propose the game in the first place?

My “clever trick” would have been not to propose the game.

It’s soccer — the sport of whiny girly men — where pretending to get hurt is the only way to get a goal. Of course, that makes it the perfect sport for Eurosocialists to play against Islamic cowards.

So the men of peace are to do nothing. The present state is the Muslim youth don't mind getting arrested for raping European white women. So don't do anything to engage the Muslim to change their values for fear of upsetting them. Sounds like a plan.
