MY WIFE AND I just had an abortion. Two, actually. We walked into a doctor's office in downtown Los Angeles with four thriving fetuses two girls and two boys and walked out an hour later with just the girls, whom we will name, if we're lucky enough to keep them, Rosalind and Vivian. Rosalind is my mother's name.
We didn't want to. We didn't mean to. We didn't do anything wrong, which is to say, we did everything right. Four years ago, when Tina and I set out on this journey to have children, such a circumstance was unimaginable. And yet there I was, holding her hand, watching the ultrasound as a needle with potassium chloride found its mark, stopping the heart of one male fetus, then the other, hidden in my wife's suffering belly.
We don't feel guilty. We don't feel ashamed. We're not even really sad, because terminating these fetuses at 15 weeks' gestation was a medical imperative. This has been a white-knuckle pregnancy from Day 1, and had it gone on as it was going, Tina's health would have been in jeopardy, according to her doctor. The fact is, multiple pregnancies are high risk, and they can go bad very suddenly. I wasn't going to allow that, though the fires of hell might beckon.
In the midst of this experience, practically on the eve of our procedure, the U.S. Supreme Court announced its ruling in Gonzales vs. Carhart, upholding the federal ban on a rare obstetrical procedure called intact dilation and extraction, or intact D&E, also known as "partial-birth" abortion.

To leftists, "disenfranchised" means "not having everything the way I want it all the time."
Normal people call that, "Life."
“The phrase “depraved indifference” comes to mind.”
I think the term “eugenics” comes up as well. Not to mention “depravity”, “psychosis” and “evil.”
And “possessed by demons.” And “Your brothers’ blood cries out to me from the field.”
I don’t see how that can be a recent picture, since he says he’s 47. And what’s that on his head?
RE: “she could try adoption.”
True enough. I myself have qualms about the fertility treatment industry. But try telling this to couples who want a child of their own and know the means is out there.
One could try telling them that they don’t have to plan in advance on killing some of their children, as the people in the article apparently did. If the woman believes she can carry only one child to term, then she should have only one child implanted.
Dan, this column was a really, really bad idea. I’ll tell you why. A few years from now, one or both of your girls is going to come home crying and blub, “Daddy! Somebody told me we used to have brothers, but you and Mommy killed them!” Have fun explaining that one, my friend.
Probably make-up and plastic surgery cause him to "look" younger than 47. It would seem that this man is full of pride and vanity.
Although, I will say with unabashed pride that I look quite a bit younger than my 47 years. :^)
That’s totally what I was thinking. They choose to put five little tiny babies in her, and then kill off two of them. They’re nuts! And completely self absorbed.
He is pro-choice, it sounds like he and his wife chose the sex of the babies and destroyed those that they didn’t “want”.
Maybe in the future he’ll be able to determine eye/hair color too.
Decisions decisions.
He wonders if he should of killed them because they might have a slightly harder time offing their kids than he did.....this guy cannot be for real.
Some people were just not meant to reproduce...
I think I’ll tell myself it’s fiction ... because I don’t want to believe that people like this exist!
I’d never have known you were 47 :-). You type like a much younger man!
Ah, so desparately wanting a child is like desperately wanting a new car, eh? Hey, you gotta have the child right? And so if you have to off a couple of extra kids to get the model you want, well that's just a choice you gotta make because you're "desperate" or something.
LOL Good one. Thanks for the chuckle.
You’re welcome. Someone once told me that I “posted like a redhead,” which I took as a compliment.
Maybe the fact that he and his wife had such trouble conceiving on their own suggests that perhaps God thought they wouldn't be ideal parents.
Proverbs 6: 16-19
“There are six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him; Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD; a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that runs swiftly to evil, The false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers”
This couple is bent on crossing GOD in every way humanly possible. A day of reckoning soon approaches.
