Iran: no one able to attack us
Press TV ^ | 5/06/07 | Press TV

A top military advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei says no country has the ability to attack Iran.

"In case of any aggression against Iran, our enemies will face the iron fist of the forces of Islam," Brigadier General Naser Arasteh told reporters.

Arasteh said that peaceful coexistence was a basic policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that his country's military doctrine had been drawn up based on defense, so Iran would pose no threat to any other country.

The Leader's military advisor also said the enemies, especially the US, knew that they did not have the ability to attack Iran.

He added Iran's army with an eight year experience of war and modern tactics was in an unprecedented state of power.

Baghdad Bob has a successor....Tehran Naser. doesn't have the same sonorous ring to it, but it’ll have to do for now.

Has this thread ended? LOL I see what you’re saying & there’s nothing I’d like better than for us to do something to spark the revolution, as we did once before. Don’t wanna own another broken country, so provoking them to be the aggressors is more productive than taking on that role ourselves.

They’ve promised to shut down the Gulf of Hormuz (sp) & Chavez’s move to nationalize Venezuelan oil might be a run up to that. Recent Russian maneuvering could be another tell. I think it is a matter of when, not if. When it comes, it will be global & overplaying our hand early does not serve our interests.

My point is that these threads are posted with the intent to persuade us to support revolutions that will never come. The net result is that we end up doing nothing, as we have done for the past six years. When Iran goes nuclear, we'll wonder what the hell we were doing, discussing revolutions, on threads like these.

The answer is that people with an interest in something other than what is best for you and me and our families are trying to change our minds about something here.

Think about it. The Iranians are not our friends. And never forget the 444 days.

We are terribly limited by our unwillingness to inflict mass death. The Iranians have no such compunction.

Lest any say that the People of Iran don't support their masters... yes, they do. Otherwise there would be vast blood in the streets of Teheran, and regime change.

And never forget the 444 days.

And the Marine baracks in Lebanon. I haven't forgotten, just as the Iranians haven't forgotten our involvement in the overthrow of their elected government that put the Shah into power. I'm not deluded into thinking they are our friends.

Iran has internal strife, just as we do. Playing it, in the same way they're playing ours may seem like a distraction. If that is all we're doing, then we are stooopid & while it seems like we are at times, I don't think we are.

Don't wanna own another broken country. You think we must?

We can't have a nuclear Iran, but I'm not prepared to commit more CIA agents and ground troops to "help" them revolt. They're not worth the price.

I am, however, willing to prevent them from going nuclear.

If the communists, opps I mean the Democrats, get the WH they’ll have the UN put a 30 day restriction on Iran. Whoopee doo!

I wonder how many Iranians are in the US today?

That’s a messy question. Duncan Hunter said in the debates that Iran has already “crossed the line.” I agree with him in the sense that it’s a matter of what we do to neutralize Iran now, not when. It’ll be up to the next president to decide what to do, since this one failed to roll east and west in 2003 and lost the initiative.

Course it’s a messy question & yes, they’ve already crossed the line. You think we have the luxury to wait until after ‘08?

And I suppose Iran has smuggled across the border either a North Korean or Soviet nuke into Iraq probably into downtown Bagdag and they want to do it as near as possible to our troops? Could this be their “trap”?

Plenty. And they include some of the most anti-American zealots you'd ever get the chance to meet. Lots of them originally came here on education visas and refugee visas, which is a complete laugh. Of course their radicalization is complete once they've been to American universities, but that's a whole different subject.

I know better than to fall for that "they love Americans!" nonsense. They love what we have here, and they'd like to have it in Iran, minus Israel and half of the Sunni Arab world. And the rest would just like to have our young people fighting and dying for their freedom, while they do little more than wave banners and make Internet forum posts.

Is this not the same Iran which Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi army fought to an inconclusive draw for about 8-9 years? And wasn't that the same Iraqi army that the US armed forces virtually wiped out in a couple of weeks in 1991 and again in 2003?

Maybe someone should inform the general that although we have used up a lot of munitions in the country next door, we're not quite down to our last box of BBs yet.
