I have no trouble saying that I have always found ALL food restrictions imposed on believers by ANY religion to be absurd. The ONLY restriction should be against McDonald’s, and KFC, which would be commonsensical, but of course , anti-libertarian. Let’s get real, for Chrissake, ( so to speak)/
I simply can’t get into anything so “symbolic”-—it makes me feel like a fool who is afraid to think for himself.
For the life of me, I still can’t figure out what it is that is so attractive to billions of people who are willing to be seduced by a concept, and have their behavior on this level (eating)defined by the strictures of this kind of thing .It seems to exist in some form or another within ALL religions

The truth about Acts 10:9-17 means that Peter was commanded by the Lord to not only accept gentles into the Christian Church but also to NOT IMPOSE any Jewish ritual laws on them since by the redeeming death on the Cross of Jesus took care of the penality of the Law.

Somebody said that you should have to eat a piece of bacon before you are allowed to get on an airplane. Interesting idea....... Hmmmm... I think the FAA should mandate pigskin leather upholstery on all airline seats ...

So people won’t touch pork, but will gladly take a rusty old knife, a video camera, wrap some towels around their heads, start singing religious ditties, and slice a person’s head off.

The reason for the 3 times the Lord commanded Peter in the vision(s) was threefold:
1. That both Jews and gentiles need to repent of their sins.
2. To accept gentiles into the Christian Church.
3. To not impose Jewish ritual laws, including dietary laws on the gentile.

The last pigs we raised (3) went everywhere and due to the heavy rains mixed it into a fine ooze in the outside pen. They also bit me more than once, but they made up for it when we ate the most delicious ham, bacon, chops and baby back ribs to die for.

>>>The Bible has also forbidden swine-flesh, but Christians disregarded this order and started consuming it. <<<
Pork was forbidden in the Old Testament. But Jesus said, “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man . . . whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies” — Matthew 15:11,17-19

"Jesus and his apostles said it is OK to eat pork, as well as to get rid of much of the Old Testaments laws."
Thats funny, Jesus said this about the Law.
Matt 5:17,18 Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
The Law is valid now.

The Islamist's just cant come out and say " We stole it from the Jews". Like a lot of the quran, it is just a cheap knockoff of Torah. A plagiarized antisemitic rant. Why they even bothered to ripoff this portion of Torah is a question. But, I suppose it fits the ascetic nature of Islam.
G-d wants us to restrain our behavior so we will be thinking of Him in all that we do. That sounds like a reasonable thing to do for the Creator of the universe. I gladly don't eat Pork. It is not a burden when you love G-d.
To: tertiary01
Homegrown pork is way better than store-bought. Although the female we raised became a brood sow for a local farmer, we did raise a male that we butchered and he was really good. What with all the contaminated feed, I'm wondering if maybe we should go back to that - but you'd still have to buy some feed.

Purity of soul means not hating Jews and Christians. Eating or not eating a particular animal is totally unrelated to religion.

I am a student of Christian and Jewish history and I can assure you that your theological assumptions are not as clear as your English Bible, and your "church" history have taught.you'll no doubt surrender your ministry and seminary degree, having been now been "assured" (sarcasm)

When I look at a statement like that, I think of the 15th chapter of Acts, the begining of it when the apostles meet in council when it came to the first groups of members of the Christian church communities who were not Jewish. Heard part of that chapter yesterday at Sunday worship.

The Law is the ten commandments, this is God's law, the rest is mans law and not what Jesus was refering to. In fact he broke much of it, as was pointed out during his trail. He pointed out that he kept Gods Law.

Because they would be giving up something they would have never eaten in those times. Dessert people are not going to raise an animal which needs water to keep cool, and wallow in it and muddy up their drinking water. At that time 99% of those people had never seen a pig.

The most quoted phrase in the "Old Testament" as you no doubt call it, is "And the L-RD said to Moses, speak to the children of Israel..." There is a LOT more than 10 commandments, and no, the rest are NOT man-made. Try 613. Pick up a Bible someday. You will find some weighty stuff in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy...
