New Jersey Update On Gun Ban Legislation!

New Jersey Update On Gun Ban Legislation!

On Thursday, May 10, the New Jersey Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee decided to take no action on Assembly Bill 3494, sponsored by Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt (D-6) and Assemblyman Peter Barnes (D-18).  A3494 would drastically raises all firearm license and permit fees and would allow the Superintendent of State Police the discretion to annually reconsider fees for a manufacturer or dealer license, a carry permit, the firearms purchase I.D. (FID), and the pistol purchase permits.

The committee also voted 4 to 2 to amend Assembly Bill 3998, sponsored by Assemblymen Reed Gusciora (D-15), Michael Panter (D-12), and Robert Gordon (D-38), which would ban the possession of all .50 BMG rifles by declaring such items to be a “destructive device.”   Even though A3998 has been amended to exempt certain firearms from being banned, it is still a gun ban bill.  A3998 has been referred to another committee for further study and amending.

Please take a moment to thank Assemblyman Brian Rumpf and Assemblyman Nelson Albano for voting against A3998 and standing up for our Second Amendment rights.

I’m not a resident of NJ, but I’ll pass this along. Have they lost their minds out there or what?

Illinois is basically the same state as New Jersey just in the midwest as the east coast.

Illinois Senate passed a maximum 10 capacity clip ban and is the State Legislature is trying to pass a 50 caliber ban, 1 gun a month, state licensing of FFL dealers, and eliminate all personal transactions.

How does any of this have any affect? NJ is basically worthless anyway as far as the Second Amendment and gun ownership is concerned.

It has an effect because those of us fighting for our gun rights under this stalinist system would hope to find some support from our fellow 2nd-Amendment defenders in other states. Scorn and criticism are certainly your right, but they're not helpful or productive in any way.

Outside influence/pressure can be mighty powerful factors -- the VCDL has been getting a lot of outside-the-state attention and support since the open-carry incident (at the restaurant in Manassas in January) was publicized.

I lived in Park Ridge, NJ and Stony Point, NY areas from 1950 through 2003 when I moved to NC.

for the same reason why the NJ Right To Life is a driving force for the pro-life movement. If you give up, babies keep on dying. Each incremental step is a battle won. And in time, the war will be won, hopefully some day. It’s the same with any issue: gun rights, school choice, etc.

Legislators should not get a free pass; they should be heard from their constituents and others who will be affected by their legislation.
