Pregnant wife, 17, stabbed to death in home
Last Updated: 2:07am BST 14/05/2007
Police yesterday released a picture of the 17-year-old pregnant wife stabbed to death in her own home.
Sana Ali; the 17-year-old pregnant wife was stabbed to death in her own home.
Sana Ali's blood-soaked body was found in an upstairs bedroom by her sister-in-law.
The sister-in-law called an ambulance and the teenager was rushed to hospital but doctors were unable to save her or her unborn child.
A Home Office post mortem examination has revealed she died from stab wounds to her chest.
There was no sign of a forced entry and nothing appeared to have been stolen from the large two-storey detached home in Bury, near Manchester, where she lived with her husband, his brother and her parents-in-law.
At the time of the attack on Friday afternoon, her parents-in-law were out of the country on holiday.
The teenager, who was thought to be two months pregnant when she died, was born in Pakistan but moved to England five years ago.
She got married in December last year to a British Muslim man, who is now 24, and was planning to return to college after giving birth to complete a child care course. Police are appealing for anyone with any information about Sana's "very violent" murder to come forward.
Extra patrols were organised in Bury over the weekend to reassure neighbours and to encourage them to come forward.
Det Ch Insp Keith Dillon, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "She has a number of injuries. It does look to be a violent attack.
The victim's home in Bury, Manchester: her body was found in an upstair bedroom by her sister-in-law
"We are treating this as a murder inquiry, but have a completely open mind at this moment in time, as it is very early on.
"Until we have more information I would just like to make a general appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
"This is a nice quiet residential area and I realise that it will have been a shock for those living here to realise what has happened."
He said no-one had been arrested in connection with the killings, but added that the girl's close family were being questioned.
Mr Dillon said: "We are interviewing family to get background."
Asked whether it appeared to be an honour killing, he added: "I haven't got any thoughts on that.
"We are interviewing the family to find out all the background. I am keeping an open mind on absolutely everything. That doesn't mean I think it is or that I think it is not."
“”We are treating this as a murder inquiry, but have a completely open mind at this moment in time, as it is very early on.”
Yeah. She probably committed Suicide by stabbing herself in the chest multiple times./ sarc
The poor child was probably murdered by some Islamo-nut who was offended at the thought of her revealing any epidermis within the privacy of her own home.
Nearest relations, in this case the husband and brother, are always—and often with good reason—the first suspects. Will the British police really investigate this thoroughly, or will the govt tie their hands in case—allah forbid—they’re guilty of an “honor” killing?
IF it’s an honor killing you’re correct. nothing there to indicate it is, but then again, nothing there to indicate it isn’t..family is always the first interviewed and the first under suspicion, especially when there is no forced entry.
The term honor killing just puts a bow on murder. The fact that your own family did it makes it worse, not better.
I’d like to see women perform some ‘honor killing’ on some of their asshats who call themselves men.
I’m still not clear. So how did she die??? Was it a stab wound to the chest, cause I wasn’t sure after reading 3 times in the first inch of the article. I hate it when reporters repeat and repeat and repeat what happened.
"We are treating this as a murder inquiry, but have a completely open mind at this moment in time, as it is very early on.And we are treating you as a totally blithering moron, and we don't have an open mind on the subject, as it's way past your time to retire.
You really had me going there for a minute...
May that poor girl and unborn child rest in peace.
Just consider Mother’s death the free practice of Sharia law and baby’s death nothing more than a legal abortion.
No crime committed here...just an exercise of free rights...
Is the sister-in-law the husband’s sister or the husband’s brother’s wife? Or the victim’s brother’s wife?
Article states the victim lived with her husband, his brother and her parents-in-law, so where does the sister-in-law live?
Someone should defenistrate the writer.
Here’s my guess, brother made sexual advances, was rebuffed and stabbed her to death.
Time to ban knives!
Fear the OBJECT; not the person!
;)
No doubt she dishonored his family by going out in public without a Muslim, male member of the family with her. In that case, sharia law calls for her killing.
