How old are you? Never heard of Desi Arnaz, Freddy Prinze, Erik Estrada, or Ricardo Montalba? They were all latinos who headed TV shows much earlier and much more successfully than George Lopez. George Lopez’s little sitcom has done nothing but struggle for an audience, ever since it first aired. GL is lucky that he even made it into syndication.
If racism had anything to do w/ABC’s decision to cancel GL’s unsuccessful show, it was probably the overt racism of GL that was responsible. GL’s act is riddled w/racist rants against whites, whose behavior he relentlessly characterizes as “mas puto” (which losely translates as “flaming faggot”).
GL also glorifies the criminal behavior of illegal aliens, and often peppers his act with cries of “vivia la raza!” (a reference to a racist organization, whose goal is to “take back” the US for Mexico).
GL latest rants are just further evidence of his apetite for biting the hand that feeds him.
George Lopez is a racist. He was never funny as I do not like to laugh at my own white race with a racist. I laugh plenty at white jokes as funny is funny, but George Lopez did not make fun of white people as general humor, he did so out of racism and that is not funny.
