Giuliani Calls Ron Paul 'Absurd' on 9/11
NewsMax, AP ^ | May 15, 2007

Posted on 05/15/2007 8:49:20 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

On defense for much of the evening, Giuliani switched to the attack nearly an hour into the debate, challenging Rep. Ron Paul's suggestion that the U.S. bombing of Iraq had contributed to the terrorist attacks of 2001.

As someone who lived through 9/11, the man who was New York mayor at the time, Giuliani said sternly, "I don't think I've ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations."

His rebuke to Paul drew some of the loudest applause of the night from the partisan audience at the University of South Carolina campus.

Like Israel, huh?

I was thinking of the king of Kuwait, the dictator of Pakistan, the king of Saudi Arabia, the 'president' of Egypt, etc.

But you bring up an interesting point. Israel has a star on it's flag, but there's not a star for Israel on the American flag. They are a sovereign government, and fully capable of defending themselves. I do not believe they should be allowed into the pocket of the American taxpayer. This ill-considered favoritism has created enemies for the U.S. Again, the U.S. would be well served to observe the advice of Washington and Jefferson.

If you want to fight for Israel, or any other nation, I wouldn't deign to stop you. But I do object to you sending other nations America's tax dollars and America's sons for their protection.

Perhaps you might also be missing some history. Islamic Fasicist movement - a bad thing - didn’t begin in the Middle East. It started in India. Just like Buddhism - a good thing - didn’t start in China or Japan. Buddhism also started in India. In fact, the very rhetoric of polticized Islam did not start in the Middle East, even though everyone thinks Middle East when they think Islamic terrorism - no, this rhetoric started in India. The FIRST “Islamic state” of the “modern world” wasn’t in the Middle East. It was Pakistan, torn from India. Please understand what this is. They don’t attack us because “we were in the Middle East” - they are at war with the “modern world”. They hate us because we landed on the moon. I say this not literally, but in a sense it is an example of what I am trying to say. I have walked many streets in Calcutta. You may laugh, but I do know them. Let me take you to Calcutta one time, and I will show you something about Islam. They hate us because we landed on the moon, and because our women drive cars. In part, I understand their fear and anger - when they see our Hollywood and the sickness of some of that, you see, that is what they also hate. They see Hollywood, and they think that is what we are. And so they want to revive the Khalifate. The origin of the movement is all about creating a new Khalifate, which is seen as rising not in the Middle East, but from what was once the Ottoman Empire. Yes, the ideas of this movement went to the Middle East. And now, it is spreading, more and more. In Calcutta, when the kllings start, then there is a breaking point for all those who live among the killings. The Islamic sword cuts, but then eventually it is Hindu killing back, killing spreads - every human has a breaking point. Do you want it to be the same here? You have to understand how this works. It can happen here. That is what we must stop. We cannot stop this by retreating into our own “boundaries”. Because, due to technology, there are no boundaries, and so what they hate - Hollywood for example - comes into their world, and their anger becomes fanatic. You see, if we follow what Ron Paul says, and we “leave the Middle East” for example - IN FACT WE HAVE NOT LEFT THE MIDDLE EAST, OR ANYWHERE ELSE. We are still there - the Islamic Fascist sees and hears the worst of America or the West, they hear the rap music or see the movies they hate, and they think “we must protect our children”. In fact, by NOT being over there, they never see the good side of the West, those who have this hate now only see the bad side, the “corruption”. They hate our modern world. They hate us because we landed on the moon. The Western World cannot “leave” anywhere. We are everywhere. And so we have to decide. We cannot stop from being everywhere. So we have to decide if we are going to let them see to it that we nowhere but dead.

Do you TRULY believe Ron Paul won the polls?

Actually, he was winning the Faux News poll, and I think Romney finally overtook him by a few points. He won the vote.com poll overwhelmingly.

I don't agree with much on with Hizzhonor from New York but I find it offensive the notion our being in Iraq is why they're attacking us. Ron Paul should get his facts straight.

Then there are conservatives who would have voted for Paul but don't because they don't have phone text messaging, like me.

I tried on my cell but couldn't get it.

You need to ask yourself why us preventing another holocaust would make the noble jihadists you believe are freedom fighters angry.

Israel is a tiny country the size of New Jersey, and most of its population lives not in the Negev desert, which is empty, but on a tiny strip of land on the Mediterranean. It is literally, as the Iranian Mullahs call it, a “one bomb state.”

I believe in supporting liberal democracy and opposing tyranny.

Did Jefferson obtain Congressional approval to initiate the use of aggressive military force against the Mohammedans? Nope.

How can you possibly be ***this*** ignorant?

Although Congress never voted on a formal declaration of war, they did authorize the President to instruct the commanders of armed vessels of the United States to seize all vessels and goods of the Pasha of Tripoli "and also to cause to be done all such other acts of precaution or hostility as the state of war will justify."

You would be well served to fill the gaps in your knowledge of history.

Paul’s “points” can be summarized as nothing more than the infantile rants of Noam Chomsky.

You have not explained this at all.

have explained my points of disagreement at length on this thread. And yes, Paul’s rants were textbook Chomsky.

Stop acting like a victim, man up, and provide an intelligent reply

This has been accomplished here and above.

That won’t suffice. Paul says no military action without a formal *declaration of war* by Congress.

Who is right, Paul, or Jefferson?

Even a gun grabber is preferable to a traitor.

Neither are preferable or acceptable as the Republican nominee.

I’m not thrilled with his pro-choice positions either, but I am also “pro-life” in the sense that 300 million American “lives” are at risk

Another than Paul, what Republican nominee wouldn't fight the war on terror? We don't need a liberal Republican to do what conservative one can.

Israel is a tiny country the size of New Jersey,

But it's not New Jersey, and since it's not part of the U.S. then we shouldn't be borrowing money from China to give to them at the expense of U.S. taxpayers.

I believe in supporting liberal democracy and opposing tyranny.

Do what you want with your dime and your life. I wouldn't stop you from sending all your earning to Israel. I wouldn't even care. If you want to leave this country and join the IDF, that's fine with me. I have a problem with a policy of enlarging America's debt to countries like China just to shovel that money to another nation.

Israel has plenty of nukes, and the temerity to use them if the need arose. I'm not afraid of them defending themselves.

Good quote from Jefferson - he sounds like Ron Paul. I’m for Hunter b/c of his border fence and saving American manufacturing, but I like listening to Ron Paul in the debates. He is the Constitutionalist in the race - especially his insistence on a declaration of war being required.

I have indeed explained it. I'll say it again.

There are people in the world who want to establish a Caliphate, who want to finish Hitler's work and exterminate the Jews, and want to impose Sharia law everywhere. They see the violence from Russia to Kashmir to Iraq to Thailand as fronts in a global struggle. Their ideas are influenced by Nazis like Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini, and the Soviet influence in the region in the 1960s spread the leftist condemnation of modernity. But what makes this form of fascism Islamo-fascism is the teachings of Sayyid Qutb, who taught that Western civ should be destroyed so Islam can restore the authenticity and dignity of man, yadda yadda yadda.

Paul, in contrast, sees violence as a justified response to American imperialism. Supposedly supporting the progressive yet corrupt Shah is the reason why the Ayatollahs are in power, and supporting Hussein in the 80s is why we're hated. This is a self-flagellating fantasy. Paul's view is false because:

1) It doesn't explain Muslim violence elsewhere in the world

2) It doesn't explain why we don't see similar violence elsewhere. Where are the Buddhists in Tibet strapping bombs to their kids to resist the Chinese occupation? Where are the Chilean suicide bombers avenging the crimes of Pinochet?

Face it. The Marxist theory of imperialism Paul embraces explains very little, while the common sense Islamic supremacist explanation explains a lot with very little.

Guess what most American are not conservative, they are in the middle,so we either lose badly or at least have a candidate who is strong on defense.Right now Americans are sick of the republican party.

I thought humanity learned from Auschwitz. Never again.

You guys are a lot like the America Firsters! that kept us from helping our allies in WWII. That attitude got us Pearl Harbored. Today, moonbat ideas have become so widespread it may take a few Pearl Harbors to wake America up.
