Giuliani Calls Ron Paul 'Absurd' on 9/11
NewsMax, AP ^ | May 15, 2007

On defense for much of the evening, Giuliani switched to the attack nearly an hour into the debate, challenging Rep. Ron Paul's suggestion that the U.S. bombing of Iraq had contributed to the terrorist attacks of 2001.

As someone who lived through 9/11, the man who was New York mayor at the time, Giuliani said sternly, "I don't think I've ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations."

His rebuke to Paul drew some of the loudest applause of the night from the partisan audience at the University of South Carolina campus.

"Fred Thompson/John Bolton 2008"

Holy Sh!t, that's a ticket I could get behind!'

Bolton should be our next Secretary of State.

I never expected Rudy Giuliani of all people to be able to answer anything Paul had to say.

Is this really what we have to look forward to? More years of a fake conservative not understanding fundamental issues?

Ron Paul is a an absurd embarassment. He’s ‘our’ Dennis Kucinich.

” ???!!!!! “

It would be much worse to have a liberal republican than a liberal democrat in the white house, because there would be a strong republican opposition to the liberal democrat.

The liberal republican would likely get the support of all of the democrats and most of the republicans...

Hope that helps.

Ron Paul is all about fake conservatism. That wasn't a conservative at the debate last night. Paul sounded just like some Kossite nutroot. And the guy was a Libertarian candidate for office years ago, and has kept his membership in that party. So he's not a real Republican either.

FYI. Go to #6 for Ron Paul’s comments. He gives a good history of the Republican party stance regarding the Korean War and Vietnam War. He even gives the platform that G. Bush ran on in 2000 regarding the U.S. being the world’s police and nation building. It is worth listening to a second time.

Maybe you don’t reognize an anti-war kook when you see one.

I don't consider Ron Paul a "kook" at all. Unlike some of the other Bush clones, he's a patriot who believes in our Constitution.

Maybe it's you who doesn't recognize a real American patriot when you see one.

I did, and I agree with him about the history of the wars.

People are so busy cheering for "more of the same" that we've had for the past two administrations that they don't bother listening to what Paul is really saying.

I'd like to see a 2008 ticket with both Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter on it, with Tancredo as border chief. With these guys in charge, we might be able to reclaim America as a leader in this world and erase part of the damage the Bush/Clinton/Bush cabal has wreaked.

In last night’s Republican Presidential debate, candidate Ron Paul suggested that the U.S. bombing of Iraq had contributed to the terrorist attacks of 2001, although Paul was pointing out the entire US-Mideast policy attracts those who want to inflict harm upon America.

On stage, Giuliani stated emphatically, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations.”

However in 2002, Prince Alwaleed of Saudi Arabia made a similar US-Mideast policy connection which also drew the former mayor’s criticism and subsequent return of the Saudi prince’s $10 million USD relief fund check.

As a Debater, I don't think that Paul's response was his best moment (he should have better pointed out Giuliani's duplicity in putting Fox News' words in his mouth, JMHO); but, he stuck by his guns, "No Wars without a Constitutional DECLARATION OF WAR", and his principled stance is winning Votes even despite his somewhat-ineffective delivery.

Giuliani blew it by interrupting Paul, calling his answer absurd, and then failing to address Paul's points.

You believe anyone who doesn’t blame America for 9/11 is extremely naive. Is that the standard Ron Paul line?

Like I said: isolationist moonbattery.

Giuliani knocked it out of the park, and there were eight other men in the room standing to ready to do the same. Paul will never be POTUS.

Finding your post, I’d say you’re right on target. Giuliani’s rebuke of Alwaleed crossed my mind also, making me think, “Giuliani just lied.”

Jim, I’ve pung you to JH’s post for your eval.

All points indicate Giuliani succinctly lied. If he can so easily forget the reason he rejected a $10 million check, how are we to believe he’ll remember to “appoint strict constructionists” as judicial nominees or that he’ll remember it’s a Constitutionally guaranteed right to own arms - promises made to those whose checks don’t exceed the nil mark?

Simple answer - don’t believe a liar.

Even a gun grabber is preferable to a traitor.

What if the choices are a giant douche and a turd sandwich?

And there you have it. You see I hate hollyweird and see the influence it has over our cultural and it makes me sick. That is why when you see all of these celebrities cheering on abortion and homosexual marriage, immodesty, and all the attention they get for doing that and it has a strong influence on our young people who want that attention the celebrities have and all that comes with it. More young people know more about Paris Hilton then they know of what goes on in the Middle East or anything else that goes on in the world, outside of hollyweird.I am a conservative Christian and I can see how so many young people today believe in abortion, homosexual marriage, and the anything goes idea, they worship celebrities and their lifestyles. I mean hollyweird right now has a new trend of women being pregnant, photographed to make sure everyone knows it,and they don’t necessarily need to be married. This was an actually news story in magazines and of course on TV.The other night I was watching an old movie with John Wayne starring in it and it was nice,no profanity,no sex,no using Gods holy name in vain,no gory violence, and yet today that movie would be considered old fashioned and not with it with the young people. A new movie is coming out by the name Bella and I am hoping that Christians, anybody with conservative taste, will show support to this movie.I don’t know if the movie will even make it to the Cinemas because they are not getting support.Frankly I wish some of the Muslims could come together and try to fight the indecency that comes from hoolyweird.Maybe something like that could show other Muslims that what comes from hollyweird is not what America is about. Our family has a young man in the Army in Iraq and the soldiers can get just about any bootleg movie they want over there before we even see it. And if I were a Muslim I would resent that nasty crap over there too because I hate it here. There was a story on here a while back where Christians were getting movies washed,to take out profanities, nudity, and whatever and the hollyweird crowd went nuts. Why? Because they have an agenda just like everybody else.Killing is simple ,the reasons for it are never simple.Whether it be millions of abortions,911,or Nicolas Berg. And let us not forget Daniel Perle who was trying to help everyone understand what the Muslims believed and to get their side of it.But killing him was much easier than talking.Evil kills and it has nothing to do with politics. And we can NEVER forget they have already told us that they are going to come back HERE and kill as many Americans as they can. And everyone can be assured if we pulled out all of our troops out of the middle east that will not stop them from coming after us and killing us.

Wrong. I voted for Ron Paul in the poll, as did a bunch of people I know who are all strong, strict conservatives. Everyone up there except for Tancredo is a stuffed shirt. I think there’s a lot more of us out there than you guys would like to admit.

To all those condemning Ron Paul for supposedly blaming 9/11 on America: How do you feel about President Bush’s decision to pull American forces out of Saudi Arabia, thereby fulfilling Osama bin Laden’s primary objective as stated in his manifestos?
