On defense for much of the evening, Giuliani switched to the attack nearly an hour into the debate, challenging Rep. Ron Paul's suggestion that the U.S. bombing of Iraq had contributed to the terrorist attacks of 2001.
As someone who lived through 9/11, the man who was New York mayor at the time, Giuliani said sternly, "I don't think I've ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations."
His rebuke to Paul drew some of the loudest applause of the night from the partisan audience at the University of South Carolina campus.

Nope, a gun-grabber IS a traitor. He uses the law to forceably take away our Rights that are granted by God NOT by men! Don’t get me wrong, Paul is a complete and utter idiot on his foreign policy views but Giuliani/Romney are just as bad in their own right. All three should be tarred and feathered and booted clean out of the party ASAP!

There's nothing "bizarre" about himThis is from "Instapundit", a basically libertarian blog, concerning Ron Paul tonight:
"No offense, but the libertarian movement is going nowhere with Ron Paul as the face. His comments about 9/11 are comparable to Rosie O'Donnell"
This from a fellow libertarian.
Ouch.

We cant have our foreign policy dictated by the threat of terror. I lived in France, where that is the national policy, and it doesnt work... Actually France's foreign policy has been appeasement, ever since the Vikings came calling. It didn't work then, and has never been know to work. So why should we try it now.

It didn’t work because no one did anything about it.

Peace be with you,
Why is is so hard for the media, _including_ Fox News to report what Congressman Paul actually said? Why do they have to rephrase (read: twist) his words to make him say something he didn’t, then “cheer” for Mr. Giuliani’s unprofessional non-rebuttal of a statement that wasn’t made? I don’t understand why Congressman Paul’s statements were omitted from the coverage of Mr. Giuliani’s applause line. Stating that geo-politics have Newtonian properties, such as every action leads to a reation, isn’t insane or unpatriotic. Understanding one’s enemies and their motives is instrumental to victory, to paraphrase Sun Tzu.

Ron Paul sounded way too French for my taste...

agree that Giuliani is an excellent choice for President Well, we're in disagreement, then, because Giuliani is just too far afield, on too many conservative hot button issues, to ever become the Republican presidential nominee.

Hunter will not change Rudy, as he is to the left of centrist. Liberal on social issues and not a fiscal conservative in his actions only in his words. He is not as far left as Hillary but by in large closer to a Dem/Liberal line of thought than a conservative Republican.
Being buried as the VP will not enhance Hunter in 4 or 8 years .. it will dilute him. In Rudy's shadow it could well cripple him in a future race.

I think he needs to hurry up. Although his Michael Moore response was awesome today, I think this debate will suck up some of the media Oxygen for a while.
In the absence of Fred Thompson, there is no other Republican, that both impresses me and can wipe the floor with Hillary, Obama, or “the Silky Pony”.

With all due respect, Ron Paul does not understand the enemy or their motive.

Rudy did have his moment to shine, but that’s all it was, a moment.

Ron Paul wants to appease our enemy, Al Qaeda. He believes by doing so, they will leave us and our allies alone. He is a fool.

Even a gun grabber is preferable to a traitor.
Explain why he is a traitor. No, I'm serious. Was Barry Goldwater a traitor? The Republican Party didn't always stand for the prospect that the best way to keep our country safe is through nation-building operations. The Republican Party didn't used to stand for platitudes like "I don't support torture, but we should do whatever it takes," which is just saying that you're too afraid to say what you really believe because it's not politically correct. Agree or disagree with Paul, the guy says it like he sees it. Most of the other candidates - even Tancredo - are focusing far too hard on making soundbites and far too little on saying anything of substance.

That's a bunch of liberal hogwash. You don't need to know your enemies, you just need to kill them. And if you get to torture them, that's a bonus. The only real disappointment was that Guliani and Tancredo wrapped themselves in platitudes about Jack Bauer and "doing what it takes" instead of just saying how they saw it. Quit being politically correct and just say that you'll torture them if that's what it takes.

[.. I notice that the Fox text poll puts Ron Paul in the lead at 30%. That tells me that liberal democrats are spamming the poll to sabotage the polling. There arent 30 Republicans in the USA who support his bizarre opinions. ]

I’m not thrilled with his pro-choice positions either, but I am also “pro-life” in the sense that 300 million American “lives” are at risk if we try to run a Huckabee or a Hunter against Clinton.
In the absence of Fred Thompson, I have to support Rudy.
