The unfolding debate over atmospheric warming in the Congress, the news media and the pundits has been totally skewed and so one-sided in that they have been totally preoccupied with possible, speculative environmental disasters of climate change.

Some wealthy elitists in our country, who cannot tell fact from fiction, can afford an Olympian detachment from the impacts of a draconian climate change policy.

Here we see a man (Bob Murray), knowing he is about to be trampled to death by a horde of ignorant legislators, desperately trying to bring reason to a mob of environmentalists.

This is politics today....where facts mean nothing and the bandwagon du jour directs the show.

I cannot recall a single democrat bill or proposal these past 40 years that was designed to make our country, economy or republic stronger. Everything they do panders to one group or another in an effort to buy votes at the expense of their country.

The only way the “clean energy” mode of civilization is going to work, is if ....

... over the next 40 years, as we replace our aging power plants and cars and industrial processes, we replace them with best clean energy version that is available based on the technology at that time. Then in the following 40 years afterward, we do the same thing again.

So it will take 80 years or so.

I note a greenie recently proposed that we build 1 million 3 MW windmills and place them on the ocean. Well, that proposal would cost $5 trillion (or more like $10 trillion if you want to spend enough to replace all our electricity generation capacity.)

Obviously, we are not going to spend $10 trillion or more than 100% of the world GDP replacing all our energy generation plant in a few years. But over the next 40 to 80 years, that is about the amount the world will spend replacing power plants and cars and factories. So, it can work, just not on the green’s ridiculous timeframe.

The Democrats know that what they are proposing (carbon caps, windfall profit taxes on oil companies, etc.) will wreak havoc on the economy. The plan is to crash the stock market and cause major unemployment before the 2008 elections - and then blame it on the Republicans. The money stolen from oil company stockholders will be dumped into "alternative energy" subsidies for companies run by friends of the party, allowing larger campaign contributions to Democrats.

It's a mistake to assume that the Democrats are merely stupid. Their only concern is to grab power. Destroying wealth is always easier than creating it, and the Democrats want a sure thing. Talking to Congress is a waste of time; the Republican candidates had better start carrying Murray's message to the people or the Republicans will be left holding the bag. The DBM will not cover this because they fear losing their FCC licenses "when" the Democrats win.

Unfortunately, the Republicans are timidly following the Democrat lead in promoting the "Global Warming" fraud. They will try to prove that they are proactive in "doing something" about Global Warming. The disaster that results will be blamed on Republican execution (i.e., the executive branch, i.e. "Bush's fault") since "everyone knows" that Global Warming must be fought, and the Republicans will help pass the destructive legislation.

It is too bad that we don't have a Reagan who understands the need to use common sense, look out for American interests and talk directly to the people. Such a man would have to have Reagan's faith in the ability of the people to make sensible choices when given enough information.
