CARSON, Calif. (AP) -Kris Boyd scored in the 56th minute to give Glasgow Rangers a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy in a soccer friendly Wednesday.
Chris Burke passed from the right edge of the penalty area to Alan Hutton, who found Boyd from the right flank. Boyd, who led the Scottish Premier League with 20 goals, beat his defender and scored from 13 meters.
"They held the ball in spots and got us running a little bit,'' said Galaxy defender Tyrone Marshall. "When we get back to (Major League Soccer), we can use that to our advantage in terms of how we play.''
The Galaxy had its best chance to score in the 17th minute. Santino Quaranta intercepted Hutton's back pass and started off on a breakaway, but goalkeeper Allan McGregor made a sliding tackle to deflect the ball.
McGregor also dived to parry Nathan Sturgis' shot with both hands in the 68th minute.
The game was the first of a heavy exhibition schedule against international opponents for the Galaxy, who later this season will be joined by former England captain David Beckham.'

Reading all that you have to say - I agree with you RB - Soccer - a sport the rest of the world for some retarded reason decides is better off when decided by coin flip
Real sports break ties by playing the game in question. Here are some examples: Baseball- extra innings (of baseball). Football (NFL - college has strayed down dark path) - Overtime, where they play football. Basketball - they continue to play basketball. I could go on, but you seem to lack the ability to get points (fitting for a soccer fan).
Now if soccer truly is the game a lot of you people tell us it is, they game I saw in '94 - with controlled subtle violence, a chess match of varied strategies and reactions, marathon like endurance and glorious skills, then you are a complete idiot if you are trying to tell me that these qualities are found in your darling lil shoot-outs. And as long as you give away your jumbo-sized golden snow cone to the winner of a shootout, you do not have a legitimate sport. Unless of course you think the intricacies of "Will he kick it left - maybe even right?" while the rest of the team stands around making their thumbs brown and smelly is a sport. It may be, but then you should probably join a Candy Land league - such skill and excitement. Had you been listening, I didn't say change the rules to accommodate me. They should be changed for those who claim to enjoy actual soccer. Take a tip from the Scotsman - when in an indefensible position - just stay quiet.
Ha! That was really my vaunted 65mph fastball! I was planning to make a comment about college football (that went from allowing draw results to its current abominable OT format), but I think you already understand.
