W probably can't put the immigration toothpaste back in the tube--but he really ought to stop painting the WH walls with it.

:-(

We need to penalize the employers. One way would be to disallow any payments to illegal aliens as ordinary business expenses.

we recognize that you’re here illegally and there’s a consequence for it.

What a monumental liar this man is.

$1,000 is not a "consequence" for illegal entry and the host of crimes that follow it.

It is a downpayment on the Z visa which is functionally equivalent to a U.S. permanent resident visa.

Having been through it with my wife, I know what it costs in time and money and aggravation to go from square one to a green card.

It is far more than $1,000.

And this trivial token of $1,000 is the only thing that allows them to assert "this is not an amnesty," although other provisions of the bill strongly reassert that charge by any definition of the word (e.g., hands-off provisions for local law enforcement, requirement that immigration courts offer Z visa application assistance even to scofflaws).

[time for] people here in Washington to show courage and resolve and pass a comprehensive immigration reform

In other words, "screw your constituents and screw the country, just like I'm doing".

We also overlooked his long held open borders stance. He is what he’s always been.

Don’t forget the unconstitutional Campaign Finance Reform.

I believe Bush was on record as opposed to CFR but signed it “reluctantly”.

Maybe Jimmy Carter was correct and Bush is the worst POTUS ever.

What is worse being cheated by someone that you know is a cheat and a crook or by someone who you thought was an honest person and shared some of your same core beliefs, but ended up cheating you and lying to you?

I have to go with carter on that one. He was the instigator for the islamofascist to grow and spread to the point they are today. clinton gave them an additional nudge.

Gore and Kerry would have been way worse. Of that much I am certain.

President Bush has had his successes mixed with exceptionally incompetent moments. This is one of the highlights of the latter. Not removing clinton cronies from all possible areas being one I can name immediately. It's up to us to simply demonstrate to the President that we hold him accountable as we would anyone else. The protest will continue until this bill is dropped for the poison that it is.

I'm exceptionally disappointed with our President.

How can he possibly reconcile the sacrifice that he asks of our brave troops while they fight abroad to protect us, then turn around and basically dissolve our borders, disintegrating our nation in the process? It's practically a betrayal of our troops. What are they fighting for if we don't even pretend to have borders? We aren't even a nation without them...

It just doesn't make sense. He needs to be enlightened.

I think many conservatives were so desperate to rid the country of the Clinton taint that they willfully ignored the obvious signs that W was not one of us. All I, for one, really wanted was our next President to behave like a respectable human being while in office. George W has accomplished that.

Prepares my new bumper sticker: I’m against the immigration bill of 2015 too.

>Just think of all the times conservatives tood behind and rallied to Bush’s defense.<

No wonder he thinks we are stupid!

It is a close call, but I break the tie by adding the Clinton-filth factor to the equation.

Bush’s plan will “save” the union. The horse has left the barn, closing it now will change nothing. (barn door=border) There is no going back. The future is what Bush is concerned with, as I am. The North American Union is the answer.

Bush brushes off the remaining 30% of voters...

Heck with them. Not running for reelection.

They only put him in office. What do they know. Who need 'em?"

I was so for Alan Keyes! I had the same misgivings about Jorge Boosh that I now have for Fred Thompson.
