Thompson sees fence between Congress, voters
The Washington Times ^ | June 3, 2007 | Stephen Dinan

RICHMOND -- Former Sen. Fred Thompson yesterday said there is a giant disconnect between voters and politicians in Washington and that the immigration bill is the chief reason. Speaking to Virginia Republicans, Mr. Thompson, who is considering a run for president, drew a standing ovation when he said voters don't believe Washington politicians when they claim they are trying to secure the border as part of the bill. "You've got to secure the border first, before you do anything," he said. "The members say it's right here in this bill: the border. The response is, 'We don't care what's on a piece of paper -- secure the border.' This piece of paper doesn't secure the border." Mr. Thompson said the new bill is "the same deal" offered in the 1986 amnesty -- legalization of illegal aliens in exchange for border security -- but said Americans won't be fooled again. He also said the program is unworkable because it relies on an already overworked immigration service to process millions of new applications

I am starting to like Fred more and more. I am getting tired of his failure to officially affirm or definitively negate his candidacy; he is beginning to annoy me on this.

Fred has a great point about the problems inherent in trying to process millions of these amnesty applications. And he’s right... if amnesty really worked we wouldn’t be discussing this 20 years later.

A shot across the bow to Congress and the courts. Get ready because the American people are on a f’n rampage and Fred is going to lead our charge. It is time to take back our country from the crooks on Capitol Hill and the liberals in our court system. We are fighting mad and you can either join us or get out of the way, because we are going to clean house and that means flushing Congress and the courts.

From the article: He had a warning for the federal courts, urging them to show restraint and respect the Constitution.

“If they continue to act like politicians, the American people are going to start treating them like politicians, and that’s not good news for them,” he said.

NICE!!! I am dying to hear Thompson’s take on fourth and fifth amendment abuse.

::::
It does not work, and never will == especially when you have an OPEN BORDER. The flow will not stop, becasue illegals are criminals that DO NOT OBEY LAWS. And worse, with elitists and utopian politicians ENCOURAGING THEM and giving them carte blanche to break our laws, it will be a disaster.

From what I see, I sue like Fred Thompson.

He certainly outshines the pygmy sellout currently in the White House.

The rest of them do get it. They always have. They just wish that YOU didn’t.

The Republican business fatcats want their cheap labor, the Democrats want their new and enhanced govenment-dependent underclass and neither side gives a rats A$$ what you think.

You’re not even real to them. You’re only purpose, as they see it, is to cough up dough for political campaigns, pull the right lever on election day and leave the running of the country to your betters (meaning them).

You are disappointing and exasperating them with your continued insistence on having a say in what is clearly a decision to be made above your level. Or at least that’s what Bush seemed to be saying when he said “...don’t want to do what’s right for America.”

Exactly, "Secure the borders first" is four words, yet it appears to be beyond Bush's ability to comprehend.

Secure the Borders, Ensure no jobs are available to illegals, No Taxpayer gifts to them, they will go home. No deportation will be needed.

Secure the Borders, Enforce the laws that exist. U.S. Government doing the job the U.S. Government is designed to do. It’s so simple. What is there to debate? Why new laws when we have laws? Simply enforce the laws.
