Nope. Fred Thompson and his first wife were already divorced before he went to DC. He didn't dump her for anyone, much less a 'trophy wife'. In fact, as SE Mom mentioned in Post 18, Fred's first wife thinks so highly of him, that she's willing to campaign for him for President.

Actually, Jeri Thompson is apparently quite a good political helpmate. It was she who suggested that Fred do the video swatting down Michael Moore. Sounds like she’s got a pretty good brain for politics!

I would only be outraged if that man had been sleeping around on his wife, THEN dumped her for the younger model. That's NOT what happened with Fred Thompson.

I don't have a problem with Jeri being so much younger, again, because Fred didn't dump his first wife for her. He and his first wife had divorced before he ever went to DC, and from what I've read, it doesn't sound like he'd been ugly to her in any way. She's willing to campaign for him, so it must have been pretty amicable.
